Look this junior girl who I developed and continue to have a crush was a good friend when the new school year started, we continued to talk and flirt in the classes we had together, but the abruptly she quit talking and even gave me that "omg, are you talking to me?" look.....ok now i work with one of her friends, and she says that she gets mad at people for strange reasons, and that she is also bulimic, and that she tries to hide it, but everybody knows it, she expressed hope because although this girl is getting thinner and her teeth are showing damage, she was at a doctor's appt. weeks ago for a sinus infection, and then she had another recently she wouldn't talk about, but now i know that my aunt works with her mom, and she's even worse, she used to be a normal sized woman, like size 8 or somthing, then she lost alot of weight...now she tries on her shorts from high school every morning and if they're tight she doesn't eat at all that day......: ( i can't help but wonder if she'll

get the help she needs, you know? i mean her mom is as bad as her and she may not recover from the damage she is doing....how can i communicate to this friend that i think she needs help...and how will she with a family like that....idk how can say i'm any better, i went to rehab earlier this year for substance abuse etc. etc. how can i help her, her friend i work with wants to help her also.... ????

i mean with all of the details to this i can't help but think anything i or anybody else does is futile, mostly because i haven't been in this situation...it's just sooo hard to see such a talented and vivacious girl fall victim to such a terrible disease that she doesn't have to! she's on the track team and the varsity bball team, and she's physically active!

Have the friend of hers confront her about it. Talk to the counselor and tell she/he ANONYMOUSLY, that this girl may have a serious eating dis order. They'll help her, and she will never find out that you were the one who told.

It is a stereotype and mostly it is seen in girls since they are more self-conscious about their bodies. People often forget that there are many guys who are actually bulimic. But actually Elton John was Bulimic. It could also be that because it is more common in girls and often more extreme people don't take it as seriously when it happens to a guy. Another point is that some guys are extremely skinny by nature, even though they eat. I mean guys aren't supposed to have any curves and even when a guy is kind of bony he can still be seen as normal or even very healthy, whereas when a girl is extremely skinny most people will look at her and immediately assume she has an eating disorder. But even as a bulimic guy you should be taken seriously just the same, just look for people who can help you or understand you. People who understand will show concern and help.I hoped that helped.

Maybe what I will suggest here is going to take some effort on your part, but her life is worth it.

Why don't you pick a time and place when you can talk to her in private. Tell her you care about what happens to her and you want her to know that you are there for her, no matter what.

She is in a bad home environment with the mother acting the same way. Maybe your mom can say something to her mother, show concern and offer support. They both need counseling before this progresses too far. If you really want to get into the legal aspect, CPS (child protective services) could be called too.

I wish I could tell you something more, but I think that's about all you can do right now. You are a good person for caring about her, hopefully this doctors appointment will bring to light her eating disorder too.

Help her! tell a school nurse, your mom, ANYBODY

And she may be really mad for telling, but it is for her own good.

She probably will thank you one day.
