I have a steady boyfriend, but nothing on this earth can make me feel happy, when i think of finishing my studies and starting a career it doesn't excite me, getting married having kids...nothing! its like what next? but i am not like this everyday only sometimes. I have been diagnosed with GAD but seems like i am also in the "depressed" category however i have no good reason to be. Help
P.S is there anyone who gets sad without any reason even when nothing is going wrong? If yes what do u do to combat it

We are in the winter months, you may suffer from lack of sun, so get some at least 15 minutes a day if you can. Take vitamin D with Calcium, watch your food intake (healthy only, no junk or sugary foods and be careful of empty carbs). Exercise of some sort is very important, it activates the endorphins in your brain, those make us feel better.

Also, you need to train yourself how to think. If you mope around saying "gee, I'm sad", you will be.

Make sure you are really doing what you want to be doing too. All the things you listed are what we are brainwashed into thinking we "should do" as women (marriage, kids), but there are no rules. In fact, I hope you hold off on those two and really live your life first. Once kids come, not much time to do those big dreams.

Do something for someone less fortunate, that always makes people feel better about themselves. Since we are in the "giving season" why not think of something today?

I'm exactly the same! You basically just described me. Sometimes I'm so happy but then I always find myself back at this point again. I'm not sure if it's depression or not- we should go to the doctor!?

What works for me- stay busy, dont spend too much time on your own, if you're feeling tired it's probably because you actually are.. get some sleep and you'll feel a lot better. Maybe spend some time thinking about what you'd really like to do with your life, think back to when you were little. Work towards some stuff you would actually really like to do because it could just be lack of achieving has got you disenchanted. If it all fails.. even if you can't get rid of the low times you could just try and enjoy the good times!

clinical depression has nothing to do with the factors in your life, rather it is a chemical imbalance in the brain.
if nothing in this world can make you happy, why not try things that are out of this world like spirituality?
often anxiety goes along with depression.
dont be discouraged just talk to your dr as soon as you can.
