Yes, but I mean exactly the opposite of what the fundies mean when they say that. Specifically, the "this is a Christian nation" people have all but destroyed the notion of "truth" here, leading to what threatens to decay into mob rule.

People are always saying we are in moral decay. Victorians from the 19th century thought that about Flappers in the 20s, People from the 20s thought that about Rock and Roll in the 50s, people from the 50s thought that about their long haired kids in the 70s and 80s and so forth. Now the big thing is baggy pants. Apparently baggy pants are the cause of Original Sin, the Root of All Evil. 30 years from now the kids wearing baggy pant will be complaining about their kid's fashion and how it's disgraceful. I'm sure at some point in 5,000,00 b.c. some caveman was wondering about moral decay as well. I don't believe it exists. There were laws against stealing, murder, etc in the 10 commandments written quite a long time ago so I'm guessing there was crime in the past, there is crime now, and it will probably be there in the future.

Moral decay has been touted as one of the top problems in every civilization since about 5000 BCE. It's not just in the US.....

Every generation is worried about the supposed moral decay of the following one

Yes.

Moral decay as evidenced by the number of divorces in the USA and the number of children born out of wedlock.

There are consequences to any society which begins to mirror those trends (my view).

There also are consequences to the display of violence on TV, in the movies, in cartoons, and in commercials.

Is there a possible solution?

Yes.

Let Focus on the Family program everything in the United States 24 hours a day 7 days a week. Then, in 60 years or so, America will be a completely harmonious Focus on the Family Christian, Godly, Ozzie and Harriet Nelson Family once again.

(...just kidding a little...)

I would say the "Moral Decay" is one of the top problems in the United States. You can find examples everywhere. From the President Clinton's affairs, Deputy Police Commissioner's affairs, group sex, robbery, arson, campus shooting in grand styles, etc. We need change. We need a new leader, and a new life style. I hope we find a better President in 2008.

I'd say that relative morality is on the top of the list, along with political correctness, and scientific consensus.

A society with a morality that is not based upon a perfect standard, that applies to all people is the same society that allows mothers to murder their babies in utero, that allows people to assist in the murder of another person, human beings to commit sex acts with animals, that makes excuses for pedophilia based upon the culture to which it is applied, that blames rape victims instead of the rapist, that rationalizes theft, that tries to limit free speech and open debate, a society that imposes theories as fact, a society that believes irresponsibility should be rewarded, a society that believes people aren't responsible for the bad things they do because it is within their animalistic nature or a result of their environment. A society that is tolerant only of those who agree with them, a society where the people deny historical fact and attempt to rewrite history as they choose by erasing the past.
A society where criminals and gangsters are idolized...and God is insulted.

What I would suggest is that the organized church is not the first place I would turn to for actual...moral...advice.

Therefore whether moral decay is the results of 20 years of Republican "Rule" out of the last 28 years of political party dominance has resulted in moral decay is open to question.

I will say that their record looks pretty dismal.

I'm not sure what your definition of moral decay is. But to see hundreds of people holding signs saying 'Free Michael Vick' leads me to believe that it is.

But more-so than that I think the biggest problem in the USA is refusal to accept personal responsibility. Those going through foreclosure are a prime example. They signed a document stating that they understood the guidelines of their loans...now they want the government to bail them out. Katrina is another example. People refused to have insurance, or had incorrect insurance on their homes...now they want the government to bail them out.
Whatever happened to personal responsibility?

Yes, and this is why God sent Jesus Christ, born of a virgin and in a manger laid. So that by the sacrifice of this precious Lamb, the world could be redeemed from the curse of sin and to receive God's Spirit of love, and His power, and all could have the royal rights to the very Kingdom of God. Jesus Christ didn't have to lay His life down but He laid it down and was crucified for YOU and me and the whole world. Now we can come to God and receive forgiveness and have our sins washed away and then and only then does divine relationship begin with God. And this is what Christmas is all about!! This is the only way to rid the problem of moral decay..

No. This is generally an issue for people who want to mind their neighbors' business.

As to problems, I'd say the mortgage meltdown, the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, the shrinking dollar, and government corruption are more pressing issues than any perceived moral decay.
