They arn't out to get you, just your money :)
I would call them bearing in mind you will have to wait a good hour while being bounced around from department to department and being on hold. Finally when you get to the right person tell them that you think they made a clarical mistake and when you actually moved.

I'm in Florida -- they don't have "State taxes" here like they do in other places but they do GET us. You don't have to provide them GA information....evidently there is some kind of mistake. If you didn't LIVE in Ohio in 2006, you don't owe them anything -- someone may have gotten you identity. I'd call them -- it's probably easier to get through to a State tax office as opposed to the Federal Gov't.

Just send them a return letter indicating you did not live in Ohio in 2006.
The Ohio income tax folks seem to completely lack common sense. A year after I moved out of Ohio, they sent me an income tax package -- to the address in a different state.

Reply to the inquiry with a statement that you did not live in Ohio or have any Ohio source income in 2006. If that doesn't do it, ask Ohio to show you what they have. For most wage earners, wages are reported to their state of residence for unemployment insurance purposes. You should have zero on file in Ohio.

Give them the info they're asking for and get them off your back. You can stand on principle, I suppose, and refuse to provide it, but guess who you'll be causing the most aggravation.... hint, it isn't the OH tax department.

I think it's the government no matter which form...County, State, or Federal. Provide them with it... or move back to GA and hide. If not...expect to PAY the consequences.
