Can we start a new religion?

Here goes ... please add:

1. God agrees to leave us alone (free-will) unless we REALLY need his help (like we're destroying the planet with carbon emissions or something). In return, man agrees not to purposely screw things up.

2. Our God is not jealous and therefore doesn't not require his sheep to bleat in supplication.

3. God allows us to find our own answers to questions about his nature and the nature of the universe, wherever those answers might lead us.

Wow...I am impressed at how many people are so unwilling to appreciate the concept of a God who doesn't work invisible miracles in our world. I assume they couldn't possibly imagine a world where that happened....

I am sure they also don't care for the fact that we do not have to beg our Creator for forgiveness over the most trivial affairs. Obviously, our sex lives are of cosmic importance, and, by not crying to Jesus for mercy every time we shamefully spill our seed, we are doomed to eternal damnation for screwing up the Great Plan that is sure to exist and not account for this action...omniscience be damned!

As for finding our own answers...that's just blasphemy plain and simple. God would have given you a brain if He you wanted to think...the Bible has all the Truth in it, rabble rabble rabble rabble God's Word, rabble rabble rabble Jews rabble rabble salvation.

This idea is far preferrable to idea of God that Christians tout about. But, then again, who can really expect Christians to appreciate that...

The God I know gives a choice like you request. The choice you are making is wrong. In the Garden of Eden He gave Adam and Eve a choice of every tree in the Garden but one. Eve was tempted, Adam was silent, and the rest is history. A religion is always man's choice. But this same God gives a right to choose Him today through faith in His Son, Jesus. God is not about religion, He is about a relationship. He is your Creator, you Father, He wants your picture in His wallet. He knows you won't understand everything, He'll do it for you.
I have strayed many times from Him, but when I come back I always feel loved and welcome.
Between , wars, pollution, hunger, disease, bad finances, bad marriages, bad leaders, and unreliable sports teams I think it would be wonderful if He came down right now and took over everything. However, He hasn't chosen this moment in time to make that move yet. He wants people to come to Him in prayer, and ask for forgiveness, peace, and healing. If every person did this, He might decide to show up. He isn't searching you for perfect words he wants to search your heart.

J.P. Moreland already proposed this at the ETS (Evangelical Theological Society) in November, 2007. It's called Arminianism!

You can't just make a religion. By "creating" God you immediately admit that your religion is a fraud and backed by no sort of omniscient being but rather the simple idea of humans.

This idealogy will mean that some folk can claim to be better than others and a caste system will eventually form.

How about we believe a God who says that everything good about us came from Him and He gets all the glory and that all of us are equal because He did everything for us and therefore no one can boast.

He already does these things. Religion is man's corruption of God's will. Men seek power and wealth. Religion, and politics are a means to this end that require little real work.

How about a god who is capable of leaving evidence of his existence?

Sure, you can start a new religion. Just become a martyr in the name of your God. That's how it usually works.
