Wal-Mart, Barnes&Noble, Hastings, K-Mart, Target, Some times used book stores have them...Christian Book stores...and the prices depend on how fancy or how plain you want your bible. Example...you want just a plain Jane Bible...maybe 10-15 dollars...one with a concordance...20-25 dollars...leather bound...I don't even know...but it all just depends on those kinds of things. Good luck, and Merry Christmas!

Check your yellow pages for your local Christian book store. One chain in our area is Family Christian Stores. Bibles usually run from about $15 on up. You can even get paperback copies that are the cheapest, or just go ask a local pastor . I'm sure he/she would be happy to give you a copy. Try the local United Methodist church. Hey, the commercial says Hearts, hands and doors are always open" (though you might have to ring the bell).
I should add, some translations are a lot harder to understand such as the King James version (KJV). Our bookstore has a list of the various translations and their ease of reading by grade level. For reading that's more conversational and just flows easier try the New Living translation (NLT) or for something really different but very useful, the Message (the bible written in story version instead of verses).

I'd try a local Christian bookshop. A good one to study would be the New International Version the price is around £15.
Don't worry about going into the shop. We have one in my home town many non Christians visit it just to browse and ask questions.

You can actually read the Bible online at BibleGateway.com.
Any bookstore will have a Bible but may I recommend the King James Version? It is the best English translation.

Jesus taught his disciples to give the word freely as they had received it that way.
You can visit any Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses and they will gladly GIVE you a free Bible AND a free home Bible Study.
Peace.

You can get a free one if you go to biblesforamerica.org. Just put in your info and they will send you one. If all else fails, just get one from a church. They will be more than happy to give you one. I think it's good that you want to study the Bible. When you get confused about something, don't be afraid to ask someone who can help you.

www.amazon.com
or any bookstore. They range from $15.00 or so and up.
Since you're not a Christian, I suggest getting one that has explanatory notes in it. You might find that helpful.
One that is in modern language and easy to understand is "The Message:Remix." But for beauty of language, the New King James is the way to go.
Blessings on you as you explore and discover God's word and what it means to your life!

Get the "New American Version". You'll just have to back up to it eventually anyway. It also has lots of explanations and references at the bottom of each page. (for instance, the part about how King James changed at least one of the verses in the King James Version so as not to offend.)

Buy a bible that has only the 4 Gospels, the book of Revelation, and the book of Daniel in it. If you believe in Jesus than read only His testimony and the testimony of His witnesses.
