What a bunch of poppy-cock! And to suggest that George Soros is financially supporting this 'war' is really out-there.

Why don't these so-called Christians yell and scream about the COMMERCIALISM of Xmas instead of suggesting everyone verbally wish them a Merry Christmas?

A federal judge has already ruled that Christmas is a secular holiday. After all, Jesus wouldn't buy all that crap for his kids. He would be too busy trying to feed all the hungry kids in Africa. If Jesus were alive today I think he would be ashamed of what his "birthday" has become. Too bad that whole eternal life thing just turned out to be a tool to make everybody behave.

As an athiest I think it's funny when athiests and Christians alike get so bent out of shape about Christmas. It IS a secular holiday, I don't care what ether side says.

Merry Giftmas, everybody!!!

Good point. But, they will keep this up because they actuallly believe it. And--in a backwards kind of way, they are correct.

Here's what I meaan (BTW--these are basically two diffent points out of a much larger socio-historical story,so don't expect a complete answer).

>Within the subculture we generally term the "religous right" there is --as a an article of faith/doctrine--a firmly held belief that they are "God's special people" and as such aare the particular targets of Satan/the worldly, etc. who "hate and fear God and His people."

>The religious right regards ONLY themselves as true Christians. The fact that most Christians (in the US and elsewhere) are NOT followers of their ideology simply proves to te religious right that these "others" are not ture Christians.

>Thus they have managed to self-defie themselves aas a distint group, apart fromthe rest of Christianity--and indeed humanity in general, that is "under attack" because they alone represent God's Truth, etc.

>Finally, I said that they are right--in a backwards way. This religious right has, among other things (just recently--there's plenty more further back in history) violated Crist's teachings by supporting terrorism, a war of aggression against a country that did not attack us, and a variety of other things. More to the point, they have attempted--by political means, propaganda, etc. to dominate entirely the political process in America, and to exclude everyone else.

>Thus--to complete the analysis--they (the reliigious right) have incurred a great deal of anger and hostility on the part of the majority of the American people. But not because tey are "Christians." They have earned that hostility precisely because they DON'T act like Christians.

I believe in Christmas. I believe in Santa Claus, candy canes, christmas trees, lights, snow, sugar cookies and spiced cider, christmas cards and holiday movies, elves selling tacos and Rudolph selling window cleaner. I believe in mistletoe, and pine scented candles, and tree hunting. Visits with family, Christmas eve dinner (with the in laws) and Christmas dinner (with my side, yeah!) Teaching my kid about holiday spirit and joy to the world. Since it wasn't really Christ's birthday anyways, he doesn't feature so prominently. I am not a Christian, but I can enjoy Christmas even more, because I don't have to worry about how other people are enjoying the season.

The war isn't actually against Christmas rather Christ. Of course, if you take Christ out of Christmas there is no reason to celebrate.

Perhaps those that would like to eliminate Christmas altogether can work on Dec. 25th to allow those that do celebrate some time to do so.

Why? Because our society has mutated into this weird entitled-by-virtue-of-victimhood attitude.

And merry Christmas to you too!

It feeds their Messiah/Persecution complexes which seem to be worsened by their inflated sense of self-entitlement. In other words, give me what I demand or I'll accuse you of persecuting me. It satiates their pathetic need to feel victimized. They've been programmed to believe that when they are persecuted that they are Christ (god) like.

One, what the hell is wrong with kool-aid? Two, I am way the hell left of a right winger and there is a war on Christmas and I am sick of it. If you don't like Christmas, shut the hell up about it. We that believe in the birth of our savior do not bash you for not believing. At least most of us don't.
