I think the feeding in different rooms is a good idea. Try to find when they are behaving together nicely and reward them for it. Try get a clicker and if they do something good, click, then treat. As far as house breaking, just keep taking him outside. Don't punish him when he has accidents (he's just been through a lot which can set back his house training) and give him good rewards when he goes outside (like a really good dog treat or maybe even some cooked chicken or beef). I bet your friend would be very greatful if when they left your house her puppy was house broken for going back to their house.
Give it some time and they will start o get along better, it took my dog a week to get used to my puppy, so probably by the end of a few weeks they wil be becoming friends.
And, wow! 17 y/o chow? That's an old boy! Also I have a newfie/saint mix, so love the newf!

Not too sure about the other things but you can help the piddler by buying either B*tches Britches or Puppy panties. For the boys it is a wrap that goes around the midsection and covers the piddle part. You put a pad in the "diaper" and it keeps him from being able to wiz on your things.
Don't leave food or treats or chew bones down when you are leaving them alone. This should help with the food problem when you are not at home. If you have to feed them in different rooms. That way your's and hers are not in the same place being fed.

u have a great big problem! i'd say doggy gates in the areas that u want certian dogs to be. then feed 2 of the dogs at a time to prevent fights. u should walk the dogs alot now to prevent the coonhound going to the bathrooom in the house.

That's a really tough one and I have to give your credit for being such a good friend. I would not leave your dogs and your friend's dogs together while you aren't around. If you don't have crates, put his dogs in the bedroom, bathroom, any place with a door between them. Good luck and Happy Holidays.

for feeding: if you only have one large room in your residence, how about feeding them separately in the bathroom? The smaller dogs may not be getting there proper amount of food.
Do you have another mutual friend that can take your friend's dogs for the month? It must be a animal farm there! lol

I really only have a solution for feeding them. Feed them in different rooms. Your dogs in one, his in another. Or maybe even split up to where there are only 2 dogs in a room eating at once. My animals do the same things.

Get separate creates for them, and put them in there while nobodys home, and at night time. Let the Coon Hound outside right away when you let him out of his create, and don't let him inside until he finishes his "business". Give all of them their own blankets to sleep on while in their creates, and a chew toy to keep them busy while they're in there. Feed them in the morning, feed the Coon Hound first after you let him in from outside and don't let the other dogs out of their creates out yet. Put him back inside the create for a little while, and let another dog out to eat, put that one back, and let another one eat, and keep doing that until they're all fed. Then let them all out.
