well the other day my boyfriend and i were watching tristan and isolde and when he died at the end i was crying my eyes out. he looked at me like i was nuts!!! and started cracking up. when i asked him why he was laughing, he said that it was all so fake and i shouldnt be crying over it! and i got so mad. i do not understand why he didnt feel anything during the movie. the same thing happened when i watched titanic with him, and the painted veil and even becoming jane. he said that theyre all setup and that theres nothing taht sad about it. WHAT IS WRONG WITH HIM?? DO I NEED TO TAKE HIM TO THE HOSPITAL?? how can you not cry or feel sad during those movies! i mean, its not like im gonna think any less of him if he admitted that it was a sad movie. (he is very arrogant and cocky though..surfs, football, soccer, basketball, baseball, snowboarding, has a band) but that shouldnt matter at all!!! why does he act like this??

YET WHEN I CRY, HE HOLDS ME AND TRIES TO GET ME TO STOP....and hes so loving and caring then, it makes so sense what so ever. he cant ever stand to see me cry, yet while watching a movie, he has no emotion????????

Those movies can be over the top. Your boyfriend seems pretty grounded in reality and understand they're just movies. Same thing with horror movies; some people can watch them and not be bothered at all, while others are too scared to sleep. He just doesn't experience that emotion with those movies.
It doesn't mean he's a jerk, it just means it didn't affect him the same way it affected you.

Because he wants to seem strong. Boys dont really like it when people see them cry.. Ive barely seen boys cry. Maybe if you just watch a different type of film, something that you can both watch and have the same feeling, maybe something romantic, but not tragic. Good luck x

he's a guy says it all!
guys have his dumb think of showing off like infront of his gf. when people get hurt they think its funny. sad movies to them are funny. dont get mad he's just a guy thats all they have to be manly and stupid its sort of funny sometimes.
p.s.
i was crying during titanic too. they were all still happy but im crying and my bf would laugh at me if he new that.

ok, this is hard to explain. but you know how guys get touchy for silly things like another guy even glancing at their girl? well girls tend to get all mushy and crap for sad/romantic movies. its what we do.
ok,
guys=easy anger
girls=sensitive when it comes to overwhelming joy or sadness.

people react differently to different things. maybe he laughs because it makes him happy that nothing like that is going on with him...or maybe because its funny to look over and see somebody crying when its just a movie. as long as hes not like that when you cry, who cares?!
