I want to go to church to praise God. However, I don't believe Jesus was his son and our savior. I am not so quick to believe the stories about Adam and Eve...Parting the Red Sea, and so forth. I think the Bible is a wonderful book that teaches a person how to live their lives with dignity and with God. I want to start going to church. I don't belong in a Christian church because most of them feel that I am going to Hell for my beliefs about Jesus. I have already started reading the Bible again, so please don't answer with that suggestion. What can I do? Where can I go where I will be accepted and not overwhelmed with people trying to change how I believe about Jesus? Thanks for your help.

Athiests: don't bother telling me that God doesn't exists. It waists your and my time because there is no convincing me.

a la carte church!!! LOL

You were trying to offend me, but I thought it was funny and whitty. But, that's why I'm saying I don't belong in a Christian church. I see a lot of Christians picking and choosing what is convenient for them... shouldn't they not consider themselves Christians? I won't be one of those. A la carte is a good way of putting it. And, don't get me wrong, I commend Christians for their beliefs and their enthusiasm about their religion. Christianity just isn't quit for me. Thanks for your answers!

You have no faith in miracles so I wouldn't suggest being Jewish or Muslim. Make your own religion for people who know god but have no faith in what he will or would do for us. Don't go to any church because none of them are what you want. I suggest getting closer to God and really dig in as deep as you can. If you know he exists, than get to know him! You will learn along the way and you'll find out that the truth isn't "pick and choose" that he is illogical and breaks the laws of science. But let GOD tell you that, don't just take it from me. Jewish believe in things you fail to, thats why i'm saying not to go Jewish

Hello!

I agree - try a Unitarian church! They are welcoming people.

You might also like Quaker meetings. Yes they are Christian-based, but their worship service is unique - an hour of silent meditation. Being quiet and still will allow the Divine Light to speak to you. You may enjoy the fellowship of others who appreciate meditation as a means of prayer.

Until you find the right church, please find other ways to connect with and serve your community. Volunteer at a library or museum. Start or join a book club - perhaps a spiritual book club! Practice mindful living and right intentions. Part of your desire for church might be loneliness. If you are not lonely, you will be more clear-sighted when choosing a faith community to be a part of, and when you do find one you like you will have more to contribute.

Many blessings and good luck!

I won't tell you to keep reading, but are you asking God for revelation before and when you read.
I think it wise to avoid organized religion as you are. I don't know where you live but maybe you can find a home church or home based bible study to join. They're popping up all over the country and I think there would be less judgment, and more help for you in a small group setting. I hope this helps.

It sounds to me that you are looking for the Unitarian Church. They don't support the idea of the Trinity and are very open-minded generally. In the past Unitarians were viciously persecuted by Christians, precisely because Unitarians reject Christ's divinity and worship only God (the Father).

you have the same beliefs that I do

I have yet to find an accepting church that doesn't push their beliefs on you as-well

personally I have come to accept that my relationship with gad has to do with me and only me and I do not require a church to show me the light which I have already found so for me the only time I want to go to church is if I need answers

that is what I would advise for you

unless you want to start your own church then I would gladly become a member

You should look into humanism. It is based on morality and compassion for all humans, and there are no arcane stories to believe. It doesn't emphasize God, though, but if you think about it, one need not believe in God to be a moral person.

Yes there is a church its the a la carte church. You pick and choose what you want to believe. Its located in never never land next to Willie Wonka's chocolate factory. Seriously though if you think the Bible has some good suggestions about how to live your life don't you think it may be wise to believe everything it says?

If I may make a friendly suggestion, go to a Calvary Chapel. They are good, solid bible teaching churches.

What is important is your "thinking" coming into line with what is true, not trying to find a church that teaches what is not true in order to fit your current line of thought.
