Two practical questions....WHEN can you get the time off work? And..WHEN does your friend WANT you to visit? Nothing else matters if you cannot co-ordinate these basics. Have a nice trip...whenever you go.

What your heard is a bunch of BS and its a big pile of BS to be truthful. Calgary has a lot of friendly people and so multi cultural. Lots of Chinese usually they congregate in downtown area. And your coming next month? make sure you don't miss the caravan stampede breakfast around town, its for free and stampede you also get in free on family day. I hope you have a safe and enjoyable visit. Calgary is one of the safest cities its really low crime rate.

You come for the end of june/ beginning of July to take in and experience the calgary stampede. As well the days are the longest, and yeah, it's fun.
But if your coming from Florida, this may not stack up to things you have down there.

If you are from Florida, you should visit in January. You get to experience some weather you'll never get in FL.
