I find it offensive when a christian especially says that...I'd smack my kids for it. We know the Bible says that it is a sin for ANYONE to take the lords name in vain...ummm...IT IS A COMMANDMENT !!!

I think that such a phrase as "oh my god" is cultural slang. Seldom does anyone really thing of the full meaning of its use. Its like someone yelling "god damn it" when they smash their thumb with a hammer.
You may find it offensive because it is blasphemy to you, and since you are a Christian, I think it would be. In order to have a fair deal of tolerance and understanding, you must be willing to accept that not everyone holds this value.

Your reviews & observations with faith is extremely actual and this is the reason better than 15% of yank inhabitants are Atheists ! ! confident Bible is intolorent and hates and at once condemns all people who dont have faith or persist with it. that's extremely disgusting that the Bible openly preaches and spreads hatred. properly this could be genuine for different religions additionally who additionally propagate hate and violence. And what for ought to we've faith in a God whose existance cant be proved ! What for ought to we've faith in a GOD who's vengeful and threatens to break if one does not persist together with his words ? There are diverse Gods who're in circulate now and which one is to be often happening & which one to no longer be and why ? while those contrdictions are talked approximately via a rational guy or woman he or she revolts and that's the case with you. One does not will become a Atheist to get a NOBEL however the cirscumstances makes one so. purely seem at any any substantial worldwide issues you will detect a diffused religious back floor at the back of it. All religions ostensibly sound off and propagate peace yet finally end up in violence. Then why ought to the rational, peace loving be a celebration to a pair of those ? If one is robust adequate and is confident that faith rather of intigrating , detrimental the society and humanity can deffinitely sustain without faith. If one follows humanism, righteousnss and is extremely confident of the products and bads of the worldwide can actually take excitement in the worldwide greater suited than any pseudo-religionist. come out of your melancholy you're no longer at fault yet your persons and others extremely have a very parochial and primitive state of innovations. they're in a convenience zone of religious guard which grants them a confident cost ticket to heaven. So why ought to they hardship approximately you, your rationalism and all that stuff. Theists have rather some clientele on the 2nd for his or her out dated wares in case you dont purchase them its your concern. And actually to remedy the concern we ought to reject those zealots thoroughly and the reasult is rising very speedy. save going you're on the final music ! ! ! ! ! !

It urks me! I don't allow my niece and nephew to say it in my home, but adults, what do you do about them?? I just brush it off and look at it as any other sin, gambling, adultery, etc. they are just on the wrong path and just have no idea! It is like the f word, just un nerving, but a little worse since they are talking about their own personal loving creator and don't even know or care!
God clearly says not to take his name in vain. If a Christian says that, that is like saying "oh, I steal all the time, I'm not going to stoop down to that level and not do it to please others"

I feel like they should not say that, but at times I catch myself saying that sometimes, so I have no room to judge. In times of great stress sometimes you say things you don't mean to say, just out of your stress you speak with little thought. They say it out of stress and excitement or surprise, all those things have little thought in the words that are spoken people will say things that don't mean to say but say then anyway out of those 3 emotions, or feelings.

I'm a Christian and I say it all the time...it's just a expressive term. Plus, I think it makes us Christians look petty and sensitive when we complain about such things.

I'm a Christian and I say it all the time.
My beliefs have not allowed me sink to levels of being offended by the words of others.
Their path is not mine.
