Those doctors are totally different.....did you know that?

Sorry, it's true. Every doctor charges a different price for cash patients. Since you want to see a specialist---------

1) Go to see your primary care doctor. That doctor will determine whether you need to see a neurologist or a psychiatrist (like I said---two totally different doctors for totally different conditions). Your primary care doctor will give you a referral to the doctor you need to see.

2) With your referral, you will pay the co-pay determined by your insurance. Your insurance card may say how much it costs to see a specialist. If not, check their website or call them. The 800 number is on your card.

3) Call the specialist you are being sent to and make sure they accept your insurance BEFORE you make an appointment.

But you will HAVE to have the referral to be able to pay the co-pay.

****The lady above said she has your insurance and it's cots her $200 an hour. Hold on before you get upset. You may not need to see a psychiatrist. And the second thing, there are all different policies for all different employers. The policy YOU have is different from the lady above. But just wait to see who your doctor refers you to and don't get upset.

I have United Health care and it costs me $200 an hour to see a psychiatrist. Pretty expensive, but well worth every penny! Don't you know that we're all psychiatrists on Y! Answers! LOL! Just a little joke.

ive seen numerous pshyciatrists since i was a kid and they all vary .. the last one i went to was this horrible horrible lady that counldnt even remember my name - it was 75 for 2 hours.. some are more and some are a little less. if you find a good helpful one then its worth the money - if you go and get a weird vibe from the person dont waste your money on them. find someone your comfortable with. as a child i didnt have that luxury. goodluck

costs for specialists can vary hugely from one office to the next, all I can suggest is that you start calling their offices and asking what they charge for an office visit.
