So some of you may think I'm overreacting, but hear me out, please.

I pulled into the Safeway parking lot (grocery store) and my dogs head was sort of out of the window - her chin was resting on the window - nose sticking out.

This guy walks by, LUNGES at her, and "barks"!! I know, it sounds stupid and like it's not a big deal if someone "barks", but I can't explain it in words.

Anyway, he SCARED her and she peed on herself.

I was SO enraged, I yelled at him, but he didn't hear me.

I'm not someone to complain about ANYTHING, I never ask to speak to managers. Well, I built the courage and called a Manager up front.

I told him what happened and he said it would be taken care of :)

Just wanted to share..made me SO mad I'm upset now.

Has this ever happened to you?

THANK YOU you guys! I appreciate the support.

I've had people do that, but not so aggressively, and they didn't scare her like this guy did.

I screamed at him "You come near my dog again and I'll knock you out!" But he didn't hear me..

Thanks guys :)

People can be SOOOOO rude. I was in PetCo once with my female, Stella. I was fitting her with a new collar, she was sitting quietly, and this woman came through the aisle with a yippy little white dog (looked like a Maltese to me). The woman, whom I could barely hear over the incessent barking of her little white monster, took one look at my Stella and said " She's a menace...that beast should be shot."

Mind you, Stella was sitting quietly...she wasn't doing anything wrong. My dog is a menace??? Take a look at your 5 pound problem that's nipping at my heels!!

I would have popped the guy for doing that to you. How rude and immature....I hope your girl recovered from the fright quickly.

I've had stuff like that happen too! With my last dog I only heard her bark twice-- once when a guy was breaking in, and once during this story I am about to tell you. Me, my ex and my dog were going for a walk. She was a boxer/hound cross or whippet/pitbull cross.. SUPER friendly though! Anyways, this guy is walking down the path towards us and she barked at him 3 times. He starts screaming about how pitbulls eat children and how my dog is a dangerous menace to society and that I should have her put down. I was FURIOUS and so was my ex. This guy would not be swayed and told us that if he had a gun he would have shot her! Meanwhile, only an hour earlier, we were at the pet store and she was licking the face of a FOUR YEAR OLD in a WHEELCHAIR! Talk about one of those if she would strike it would be at the small human in the strange contraption!

People are ignorant a**holes sometimes! At least you did something about it!

Are you kidding me, that guy is such a jerk. That happened to me, once. It was when I first got my lil fella (see picture to left). I was pulling into a parking spot at the mall. We were going to the pet store. And some guy lunged at my lil guy. Now as a side note, he has had no formal training yet and he comes from a line of protection dogs. He lunged back at him with all the barking, growling and teeth beared as he could. The guy jumped back and started screaming bloody murder. My lil guy stopped barking as the police pulled up. Apparently, the guy told the cops I 'sicked' my dog on him. Well of course not true and the cops saw it my way.

This brings me back to when I was young and everyone my age used to be taught about animal etiquette. When coming upon a dog for the first time in public and it is with it's owner, ask permission to approach it or "let sleeping dogs lie"

That guy would have come to realize that it was not my dog's bite to worry about but rather mine.

When I was around 9 years old, I was playing with my Airedale Kaleb. We had to build a 12' high fence as Airedales are accomplished climbers. A neighbourhood kid come by and proceeded to throw sticks and stones at me and my dog I protested when a rock caught me on top of the head. My dog actually climbed the fence and chased the kid down and nearly severed his calve. So in a way, I can relate.

No not this exactly but I have had experience with similar situations! To make a long story short, I have a pit mix and had taken him with me to Petco to pick out some treats for him. He was on a lead and was sitting at my feet looking up at me when a lady and her daughter walked by us. The lady (and i use that term loosely) KICKED my dog! She then turned to her daughter and said, "Those dogs are for white trash!" Yes, it is infuriating and ridiculous that people think they have the right to behave this way!! I completely understand and hope that your baby wasn't too traumatized by it!

Added: Oh, and yes I did yell and she acted as if she couldn't see me or hear me but the manager of the store did see what she had done to my sweet boy and had her escorted & banned from that particular Petco. I can't say I was satisfied with that but at least it was recognized as pathetic behavior.

Honestly, I know exactly how you feel. I was walking my 2 dogs and 2 guys (not teenagers) in a truck slowed down and starting yelling and honking the horn as they passed. I was so mad I would have smacked them if I'd had a chance - stupid jerks.

some people are just brain dead and act as if they are a big shot in front of others.i had a mixed wolf years ago. he was very protective of me and did bite several people, anyway i took him outside to pee and these 2 guys came from around the building and started teasing and lunging at my dog.he was a good size and he showed them his big teeth and gave them a tremendous growl and they backed off. they thought it would be fun to torment me and him until he showed them he would not put up with it.they took off on a run backing away and turning tail so it is anoying when u have a breed that is noted for protecting their owners and some creep trys to make them mad.unfortunately we would get the blame in a lot of cases.good for u to complain, don;t let these creeps get the better of u. u have rights.

I had my shepherd pup at work one day with me. My pup was looking toward the door of the exam room when this rotten little kid comes out of nowhere, jumps in his face with his arm spread and screams, "Raaaarrrrwwwwww!"

I looked out the door at the kid and yelled, "What is WRONG with you? Why would you do something like that to a puppy? That's why stupid little boys get bit by dogs! "

I HATE that, when I pick up my younger sister at school I bring my Bichon Frise with me and he loves to stick his head out the window. Kids and adults have barked at him growled and swore at him, I guess they think he cares but he just looks at them like they are nuts, which they are. I always yell at them, I see that as a form of animal abuse, like teasing the dog. Good for you for telling the manager. also I hate when I see a dog waiting in a car with the windows down and someone sticks their hand in the car and barks it just kills me. Hope your dog is alright:)
P.S. I ONCE HAD AN OLD MAN AT PETCO ROLL MY DOGS TAIL OVER WITH HIS CARRIAGE WHEN I TOLD HIM HE GAVE ME A DIRTY LOOK AND WALKED AWAY, JERK!
