Most likely the sender is bad. As others have said Chrysler is notorious for this.
Its kindof odd but the Cummins oil pressure sender found on the 94-2002 diesels had a bad reputation for failing too.
One of my friends oil pressure sender on his Cummins has started failing intermittently recently. One minute its fine the next all the idiot lights are going off, bells are dinging and the gauge reads zero!
We've checked it out and he obviously has oil pressure, especially as much as hes driven it since this happened.
The new Cummins unit is about $90 from Cummins (more from Dodge) but if you've got a gas engine its going to be cheaper from a place like NAPA.

you may have oil pressure you may just have a bad oil sending unit telling the gage it has no oil pressure,id check the gage first, and try hooking up a mechanical gage to it,and see what it reads,it could just be the sending unit,if it isn't the sending unit you have internal problems with the engine, have it checked to make sure, you don't want to mess up a good engine, good luck.
