im not too postive on exact differences. but V series comes before the W. meaning the image would be improved on the W, such as black levels and contrast ration and maybe refresh rate. sonys xbr series ( 4 and 5) now have the 120hz technology which eliminates the image bluring when something is moving fast on the screen such as footballs or wild life , etc. the xbr series is top of the line from sony it uses every thing the W series has plus the 120hz refresh rate screen.

depanding on the size be ready to dish out a 1/3 more of the cost on the 120hz screen but since 120hz is not in mass production yet the V and W series are just fine. id let them fine tune the 120hz technology just a little longer
