My friend gets panic attacks in front of large crowds, and we're doing a battle of the bands in March. Is there a way to help him get rid of them in three months?!

He's going to need medication and/or therapy to cope. My husband has panic attacks when having to deal with medical professionals. It used to be so bad he couldn't bring himself to get out of the car in the parking lot. Now he takes atavan before an appointment to get him through. Have your friend talk to his doctor and see if they can come up with a medication to help him cope with the fear of crowds that doesn't interfer with his ability to perform.

Hi,

I have been through something very similar with my mother. It's amazing how something
can tear apart your life like that. It hit her the hardest when I was getting ready
to move out of the house to my own apartment. She took pills for it, but they only got
her so far.

We tried several different things all ending in the same result. I'm not sure if there is
a way to completely get rid of it, but there are things that can help. I know that it
does run in the family. ONE of the things that helped her out a lot was a site we can across
online while searching for help. If you're interested follow the link below and best of luck
to you.

not that i know of, besides taking deep breaths & thinking about something other than the crowd, which are pretty obvious :/

i got a panic attack once & started hyperventilating hardcore & they actually put me in an ambulance & hooked me up to a breathing tube or something cause i couldn't stop...so i feel bad for your friend if he gets them a lot :[ they aren't too fun.
you guys should try to get a show at some bar or a skate park or something & get him use to playing in front of crowds. plus its good practice if youre doing a battle of the bands.

nope, panic disorder is something that doesn't generally go away. the person learns to cope, there are classes available and medications can be prescribed but on average, panic disorder doesn't go away.
