He borrowed $7000 dollars 20 years ago and my mom made us sign an agreement, that magically disappeared. Now I can't get him to repay me. So I tried to start getting even with him, He was moving and wanted to get rid of some stuff from his house, so I told him I would take it and pay him later. It was only $250.00 I feel kind a guilty, SHOULD I PAY HIM OR NO?

If you have more than 7K in your own savings/bank account you should be ashamed of yourself for even keeping this account that he owes you after all this time.

You lied to him by taking the stuff knowing full well you weren't going to pay him for it. That's wrong no matter how you slice it. What he does doesn't affect your conscience, but you lying to him or anyone will and only you control and are responsible for what you say/do.

In short, quit trying to lie and just be honest with him if you are desperate and really need it, but 20 years is too long of a time. Save your own money and get over it unless you really need money right now, then talk to him about it honestly and say "hey brother, you borrowed this a long long time ago, and if I really didn't need it, then I wouldn't ask for it, but I really do need some of this now for myself, etc..."

So, you're putting off a loan on a house. You pay 30% of it decrease back. You blackmail the economic employer supervisor to verbally launch something of your loan debt. 2 years later, the economic employer supervisor sues you and ruins your credit advising you which you presently owe 3 hundred% greater desirable than what your stability exchange into because of the fact of pastime. in case you do no longer it pay it decrease back, he will garnish your wages, injury your credit so no different economic employer will ever believe you, and go through detention center time for blackmail. Is that honest? do no longer take a loan for money except you pays it decrease back. You created this occasion all by potential of your self by potential of taking benefit of a robust deed your brother did for you. And now, he will never believe you back. and you deserve it! What to do??? Hmm, what approximately in case you had a quiet verbal substitute with your brother. instructed him you have been incorrect in attempting to blackmail him and make good on the quantity you owe him agreed by potential of your brother. in case your brother concurs to $50.00 then you certainly pay him $50.00. You screwed up and that's your lesson until now you hit the "massive international" of legal professionals and judges, detention center time and detrimental credit.

If he owes you the money, I don't care how long ago it was, you still are entitled to it. I would NOT feel bad as taking that as "part" of the payment he already owes you. You could even mention that was a small part of what he already owed you. Also, that you're STILL hoping to get the rest in this life time!

Take the high road. The statute of limitations is over for 20 years ago (an expensive lesson). Truly, you obviously have a conscience because it is bothering you. Pay him back and let it go. Remember, anger and bitterness doesn't affect him; it affects you.

Best to you.

Guilt? Yes.
Getting the money he owes you back...forget about it.
My grandmother always says, "When you loan someone money, you might as well be giving it to them. " So keep that in mind the next time you decide to lend out grands to anyone; family or no.
