I know I'll be getting a tax refund for 2007, so how soon can I submit my taxes? Anyone know when the IRS begins accepting tax forms? (I think it's in January).

Jan 15th is the traditional IRS start date.

you'll need your W-2 and 1099 forms though; BUT employers and banks, etc. do not have to mail those until Jan 31st.

Worse, Congress hasn't finished the tax laws for 2007. It takes the IRS about 7 weeks to publish the forms and reprogram their computers for any changes that are finally made [AMT, gain/loss on sale of residence, etc.] so anyone with any of the items that are changed may well not have their return processed until February 15th or so.

As spock said, the e-filing date may be pushed out, but you will still get your refund faster by e-filing at that time. You could mail it in sooner, but it will just sit in a pile until that date.

It's Jan 2 if you're filing by paper, Jan 11 if you're e-filing. You should wait until you get all your w-2's first.

As soon as you receive all of your W2 forms.
