How are you, Janet,
I have observed that individuals who make such comments may misunderstand what it truly means to be earth-friendly. It may be the whole stigma left-over from the Cheech and Chong ruling days of the hippies and pot-smoking. It may be many different things. The biggest of them, however, is that people think they will have to give up their CD's, BMW's, whatever. There are people who think their way of life is currently the best there is; we are not willing to change because we think that being respectful of the environment will set us backward. Such thinking at the subconscious level results in denial, which results in behaviour such as mockery. All kinds of other complexes can grow from that point, but I think you understand what I am trying to express.
Undoubtedly, some of those people will read my opinion and get a little heated. To those I say, "Dave's not here". :)
In general, it is just a personality type, Janet. Do not worry about it too much. You can't live with 'em, you can't live without 'em.

Because they're uneducated, live in a fantasy world, and they're also the folks who secretly believe they're going to live forever. I think it's terribly strange to dismiss it completely. Of course it doesn't help when you have people like Rush Limbaugh telling the masses that frogs (an indicator species) don't matter after reports come out that they're dying off in droves. These are the same people who think if they wish it away or ignore it -- the problem will simply disappear.

Yeah. I mean we can start with the celebrities in this country (America) and have them downsize their mansions and stop using private jets. Have them fly coach like the rest of us. I mean, who really needs a 50,000 square foot house in Beverly Hills. (Think of the energy savings if these mansions were demolished to return to a more eco friendly environment).
If these hypocrites would change, then I might listen.

Um, no. I don't care if you want to be brainwashed by Al Gore while he makes millions off of his absurd ideas, but I'm not going to be put in the same boat. There is way too much evidence showing that global warming is not happening, so that's why people make fun of people who think it's actually happeing....plus, why not make fun of them knowing they've been easily brainwashed by Gore?

Because that would make people actually change their lives, which they refuse to do at the expense of their children and grandchildren.
Also, many fundamentalists thing the rapture is near, so there is no reason to worry anyway.

What are you talking about? Who are you talking about? I have never heard anyone laugh about the environment. Are you just trying to find other hippies so that you could hook up?

The planet doesn't need saving. We're the ones who need saving.
Whether or not we go extinct or not, the planet will still be here. It doesn't care if it has humans on it or not.
