You won't have to wear the retainer all the time forever, but most people have to wear it at night forever because of natural shifting.

I was told to wear mine for 2 years, but I had friends who had to wear them forever. I am getting braces again at 24 because my wisdom teeth came and shifted my teeth all together. I plan on wearing a reatiner forever after I am done with all of this because I learned from the first time that my teeth shift fast and I know that I will need a retainer for the rest of my life, at least at night after the intial period of wearing it all the time. I am getting braces again after getting my wisdom teeth out.

It is true. I know because I had braces. You have to wear retainers the whole day for 1-3 months... it depends. After a while you only have to wear them at night forever. If you don't your teeth start spreading apart and go back to the way they were before getting braces. If you don't were retainers you have to get get braces again.... trust me.... i know

Yes. Because the reason why you must wear a retainer after getting your braces out is to prevent your teeth from moving. After getting your braces your teeth may go back to its original position. Hope that helps.

I don't think it's true. I know 1 girl who wore braces and now has them off and has a retainer but only has to wear it until Christmas.

I have had braces and all I know is I was told that i should wear my upper retainer; however they DID put a permanent retainer on my lower teeth. Its a little metal wire on the inside that stays put! Hope that helps a little! :)

It depends upon your correction.

My daughter should have as her teeth have bucked back out and separated again.
