If you can get lucky, you can find one, but it won't be a puppy. I bought my bulldog for 500 but she was at least a year old. We were able to sell 7 out of 12 of her puppies for about $2000 each. They can get pretty expensive. Good luck and I hope you can find one in your price range.

Hi Zane,
Keep an eye on http://www.petfinder.com and use the links above for bulldog rescue.
Unfortunately, under $500 isn't going to get you much in the way of purebred - other than an older rescue or a very very very low quality dog from a backyard breeder or puppy mill.
I also want you to consider how you will pay for a dog's care. If it's financially difficult to pay for a quality dog, what happens when the dog that you get gets horribly sick? It happens to EVERY pet owner and can easily cost $2000 in one shot. The cheapest dogs are often the most expensive, in the long run.
Be sure you are fully prepared financially before getting the dog.
And, be sure to do your homework so that you don't end up with a dog from a bad breeder who fools you into thinking that just because the dog is AKC, it's well bred dog.
Did the breeder follow ALL these guidelines?: http://www.akc.org/breeders/resources/guide_to_breeding_your_dog/index.cfm
Is the breeder an ACTIVE member of the Bulldog Club? http://www.thebca.org/
If the person you are gettng a dog from can't answer yes to these questions, they are a bad breeder and should be RUN FROM!!!!
Here the BCA guideline to finding a good breeder: http://thebca.org/BCA%20breeder1.pdf
Use them. : )

The words English Bulldog and Cheap do not go in the same sentence. The least expensive way to get 1 is from a rescue & at best you'll pay $500 But if you can't afford the price, you probaably should get a different breed. The vet bills for E.B.'s are high. They have hip & eye problems & can be quite costly.

YOU CAN'T!!! That will never happen, haven't you checked out the price of bulldog puppies? They are never that cheap, most go for over $1000, and that is the low end of the price range.
I am so sick of cheap-skates looking for these expensive dogs for free or cheap! Every one has a good reason why they need one even though they can't afford it. And everyone thinks they deserve to get one cheaper than anyone else! Go figure!?! Get a clue! Do some research and you would know why they are so expensive, and why NO ONE sells them cheap! You could get a great dog for that kind of money, but you will not find a bulldog(especially a puppy) in that price range that doesn't have something severely wrong with it.
If you can't afford the dog, you'll NEVER afford the proper vet care, these dogs tend to be pretty high maintenance, especially in the medical needs dept!
Some shelters offer bulldogs for adoption in that price range, but most have been given up due to expensive health issues. Check out petfinder.com

Good luck on one $500 or cheaper.. Unless you get one through the rescue, but you have to go through so much red tape to get a bulldog from those...
And they are just a walking health problem...
If you are looking for a cheap one you probably could not afford the vet bills..
Trust me when I tell you this I have had 8 of them.. currently down to 5 because some have passed on..

Even puppy mills are going to charge a grand easy but you will probably wind up spending three times that amount on vet bills in the subsequent future.
If the bulldog pup is cheaper than $2000.00 question the quality of the pup.

Bulldogs are NOT cheap. They are expensive to breed, have small litters and usually require c-sections. They also have a lot of health problems if they are not carefully bred.
If you find a Bulldog puppy for that price, you'll probably end up spending a fortune in vet bills.

English Bulldogs are expensive to own, expensive to breed and expensive to buy. The cheapest I ever saw was an adoption fee from a rescue. I'm assuming that you don't want a 'ruined' dog though.

Nowhere. Bulldogs are expensive--often require C sections and those aren't cheap. You're better off using rescue.

Can you afford to look after a Bulldog I don't know much about them however I think that they have respiratory problems. Investigate their health problems before you think of getting one. Don't think that you can leave it at home whilst you are at work, they need looking after. If you can cope with the expense and care, try a rescue organisation.
