I'm a bartender...and although everything is great...lol...you MUST traditionally start out with someone buying you a ********...its a shot with baileys irish cream and amaretto...topped with whipped cream...
now...once you get it...find someone HOT...put it in between their legs and you must pick it up and drink it without using your hands...Enjoy!

First off take it slow alot of drinks can kill you quick.
First off you do not want to mix your first time out meaning choose beer or hard alcohol or wine really mixing can land you some serious puking and a crazy hangover.
I would recommend the hard alcohol just many tasty drinks compared to beer.
With you being a lady get a Cosmopolitan, then a bellini, have a Margarita, Pina Colada, Mai Thai, Martini, Blue Hawaii, Tequila shots with lime, Smirnoff Ice bottled, these are some shots alabama slammer, B-52, sex on the beach, orgasm,*******, really alot of bars now have signature drinks so give them a try. You have you whole life to try drinks out I'm 32 and been able to drink since I was 18 and still have not come close to trying the basic cocktails out there. I live in Canada.
You will find ones you'll love and those be the ones you always have. Remember lots of drinking big hangover you'll know what I mean the next day if you go overboard.
ONE BIG TIP WHEN YOU GET TO THE BAR FIGURE OUT WHERE THE BATHROOM IS SO YOU NO FOR LATER TRUST ME YOU WILL THANK ME.

I agree with the others on a lot of points but here's my rendition:
To start, as the others have said. EAT! Nothing greasy and nothing sweet. You can do burgers and fries after a night out once you're a "professional", but not now.
It wouldn't hurt you to hydrate yourself first. Water's OK, but Gatorade is absolutely the best hydrating fluid that your body can get. Before and ESPECIALLY after doing some drinking, you've got to get hydrated. The whole reason that people have hangovers is because they've pour "rubbing alcohol" down their throats and their entire system is dried out, including the blood vessels in their head.
I'd go with a standard Margarita, a Cosmopolitan, or an Amaretto Stone Sour. If you want to "keep it clean" and drink something that looks more like you're not new at this, Maker's Mark bourbon, Jack Daniels whiskey or Bacardi Rum along with Coke are great standards that taste great. On the "light" liquor side, I suggest a flavored Martini or Absolute Citron and O.J.
And, as the others have said, DON'T drink and drive. Some of us are born with the skill to completely lose our "buzz" the moment we get behind the wheel. For that reason, I hate bar hopping. Ya' spend good money getting good and bubbly and then lose it the minute you get behind the wheel. But that is a RARE condition. Don't experiment on yourself.
Actually, in my later years, now, I've elected to bring the fanfare closer to home and just party at a different friends' home every weekend. No fuss and you don't have to RUSH home if you don't want to.
So, go forth and indulge moderately and REHYDRATE! Trust me!

I am gonna give advice instead of an answer to which drink you should have. Turning 21 is a GREAT milestone in life and you should REMEMBER it! That said, DON'T mix hard liquor with wine (or anything that is high in sugars) you will not only have a MAJOR headache the next day, BUT you will SPEW all over the place for HOURS!!! Also, be careful not to overdose on alcohol! Your body is not used to drinking and there is a true danger! One last thing (I promise), have a TRUSTWORTHY and RESPONSIBLE person that WON'T drink AND has a VALID drivers license to get you safely home!

Go easy! If you are an accomplished drinker, then have something you know you like. Be sure to eat first! Stay away from sweet stuff. You'll barf. Before you start drinking, have a big bottle of tomato or V8 juice in your fridge to drink in the morning. The potassium and vitamins will help to alleviate any hangover you're likely to have.
Have fun! Woot! But DO NOT DRIVE! and don't ride (let drive) with anyone else that is drinking.

Definitely get the "Liquid Cocaine":
1/2 oz Bacardi® 151 rum
1/2 oz Goldschlager® cinnamon schnapps
1/2 oz Jagermeister® herbal liqueur
It has to be one of my favorite drinks. Downing a shot has a similar sensation to that of wasabi, in that it kinda clears your sinuses.
