what should I get??? I want to buy a HDTV I have been looking at 3 tv's so far. 1. Samsung, Model # LN- T5281F, 2. Sharp, Model # LC- 52D92U, and 3. Sony, Model # KDL-52XBRS. They are all 52' HD 1080p, but I really can't decide. The SONY is pulling me their way but the price is kind of "EXPENSIVE". Please give me your advice and tell me in your opinion which is better and why? Thanks

If you want the best in both performance, between these 3, get the Sony XBR5!!! Check out he 11/07 Consumer Reports magazine HDTV article that rates BOTH performance and reliability. There are a bunch of Samsung aficionados here that love to scream 'Samsung' as the answer to every thing, but it only shows how little actual research they have done. Good hunting!
BTW, if you should decide you might want a 50" plasma, look at the Panasonic 1080p - great pic and reliability for lower cost.

The Sony XBR is the higher-end of the models from Sony so it is expected that its a bit more expensive. If you buy a TV/Car and expect to use it for 10+ years, the Sony might be a good choice.

The Sharp is an Aquos model which has quietly become a well respected model. Sharp used to be known for low-end electronics, but the Aquos is their attempt to compete with the better known brands, but at a lower price. A good friend bought one and loves it.

Samsung - I love their DLP's but I dont have any information on their LCD units.

My advice is to give each model some points looking at these features:

- Give a point to the higher contrast ratio
- Give a point to the LCD with the higher refresh rate (LCD televisions sometimes have macro-blocking issues and higher refresh rates tend to solve this).
- Give a point if a TV has more than 2 HDMI inputs
- Give a point if a TV has HDMI 1.3 software
- Give a point if a TV lets you jump straight to an input and not toggle AntA->AntB->SVideo1->... This makes the TV work better with universal remotes.
- Give a point if a TV lets you have separate Brightness, Contrast, Color settings per input

Consumer Reports? Are you friggin kidding me? Besides the fact that they don't really do a good job at evaluating anything, they are paid by advertisers and Sony is one of their biggest. Of course they are going to give them a good review. Relaibility?????? LMAO. Has Consumer Reports had their hands on 50 of the Sony TV's and ran them constantly for over a year to see about their reliability?? I think not.

As far as the original question, they will all work well for you. Let your budget do the talking.
