You cant raise your kids to be anything... they have this sneaky little habit of doing their own thing and having their own mind and stuff...

I am guessing that you really are meaning that you believe in God in some form or another (i.e. you are religious) and you dont think that Atheism is the way.

Well good for you.

But also, good for them.

Every one is allowed their opinion.

It might be a good way to "tell them" about your views and see what they say. If you have accepted their views, then maybe they will accept yours.

good thoughts to bear in mind (if I get where you are coming from)

A thinking person keeps their mind open to all posibilities.
When you eliminate everything YOU think is impossible, you will never find the answer.

Maybe explore that with them... as it seems like you obviously talk with them about such things...

:o)

All kids are atheists unless or until they are conditioned to think that they believe in the god of their parents choosing!

By allowing our kids to remained untainted by religion, while still teaching them about religion and spirituality is the ONLY truly fair and responsible way to raise a child. BUT, I don't go around telling parents that. They'll raise their kids as they choose, just as I'll raise my as I choose.

Please enlighten me. What is the atheist belief? What are some of our basic teachings?
I as an atheist {a name that is given to me by christians} give my children the trust and consistent upbringing to make their own choices. I love them soo much that I am not going to indoctrinate them. I will trust their judgement and not judge them because I did my job as a parent by raising them to be the best they can be and not crippling their free thought and expression.

Most Atheists raise their children to have an open mind about religion, answering questions about it as they come up. What do I tell them? Nothing. I'm not a counselor, and if they want my opinion, they'll ask.

What can you tell them? Chances are they know where you stand on the issue, in my opinion the best thing to do is to Pray for that person and there family.
My sister is an atheist, she however does not make choices for her children. I prayed for my niece and nephew and sister. My sister now lets her daughter go to Sunday school. Just Pray, exercise your Faith.

I.. don't know
To be honest, overall it's a good thing, but I think its better to let the child decide for themselves. I was brought up without any Christian influence, but without any 'God does not exist' influences either. I think that a parent should bring a child up to think for themselves rather than as an unquestioning atheist. Otherwise you're as bad as the Christians and Muslims who do the same thing

I would say,,, Great job, in raising your children to fight for free will and seeing a positive outlook on the world, instead of being a slave to beliefs.

Nothing. What do you tell people who are raising their kids to be Christians?

It wouldn't really be any of my business, so I wouldn't say anything.

But in my opinion it would be best to just raise them open minded. If they become atheists great, if they don't then that's great too...at least they could choose for themselves.

Nothing. I'm not raising their children, they are. Hopefully, they will allow those children the freedom to explore religion (all of them) and not condemn them if they chose to follow one.
