im going to the NAMM show (National Association of Music Merchants) in january and one of the best parts of our trip last year was all the stops along the way. we went to Randy Rhoads gravesite and a bunch of tiny obscure music shops. i know there has to be plenty of other cool spots to check out.

The cemetaries in LA have quite a few dead rock stars buried in them.
Hollywood Forever has a large bronze memorial of Johnny Ramone playing guitar. Old Hollywood stars like Rudolph Valentino, Tyrone Power, Douglas Fairbanks, Mel Blanc (Bugs Bunny voice amongst other Warner Bros characters), gangster Bugsy Siegel. The list goes on and on...
Forest Lawn, several LA & OC locations, has more dead celebrities than even HF. James Brown, Andy Gibb, Sam Cooke, Sammy Davis Jr. Nat King Cole, Walt Disney and even Liberace, etc.
There are 3 smaller music shops in Long Beach. VIP Records (where Snoop Dogg likes to shop), Dizzys on Vinyl and Fingerprints. In LB go eat at the Pike Restaurant and Bar, it's owned by the drummer in Social Distortion.
Go see some shows at the old rock clubs on Sunset like Whiskey a Go Go, Roxy, Rainbow and the Troubador. While you are there go to Barney's Beanery on Santa Monica in West Hollywood. Janis Joplin, Jimmy Hendrix and Jim Morrison used to frequent the place before they all o'd.
