Sadly, some modern churches in America have become like "clubs" where people go to meet new friends. They have forgotten the meaning of Christianity: to reflect Christ's character, to do God's will, to help those in need, to spread the gospel, to prepare for the return of our Lord.
Rejection of truth, abolished law, and teachings of spiritualism are accepted in many churches. But there are still many faithful people in these churches, and to them, God says:"come out of her, do not partake of her sins, so you don't receive her plagues"(Rev. 18)
Some only like to hear nice, soft sermons because the truth offends them. God's law is like a mirror, and many of us don't like what we see. Some of us would rather be "blind", than to do God's will. And there is always a church ready to accommodate the blind. "come out of her, my people"
It is a very dangerous path to follow, for the time will come when God will say: "I never knew you"
Not everyone who says, 'Lord, Lord', shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of God The Father in heaven.(Matthew 7)

As an outsider, it seems to me that religion in the United States is more about political leverage than it is about anything else. There is an inseparable tie to right-wing political views and agenda which I find to be distasteful, and dishonest too. To this last point, I don’t think that dressing up political issues – legal abortions, gay marriage, even global warming – in the context of the Bible in order to win support of churches is entirely ingenuous on the part of politicians, even though this serves the churches and their lobby groups very well. And there is dishonesty on the side of the Church too, I think, when they recognize that they have political clout due to sheer numbers, the morality of the things they claim to be defending seem to take a backseat to how much influence they have in the political sphere. Maybe it can be argued that this strategy serves the greater good. But, it seems to me that the time could be better spent on actually ministering to people – as they claim is their mission – rather than trying to use political control to legislate morality.

I think in some instances, an emphasis on actual ministry does happen. There are ministries that serve unwed mothers or victims of rape, which backs-up their anti-abortion beliefs with some constructive action. But for the most part, the role of religion in the United States seems to be about establishing a block of power, more than it does actually attending to the needs of people, as God would presumably have them do.

When compared with the picture of Christianity in Scripture, it looks like a foreign system. Ya know, more like a corporation than a family. More control than freedom. More show, than interaction. More fluff than fulfillment.

i think that it is dying. but much of it is true. there are many peopple who claim to be christians but arent. i believe that when people listen to them that it confuses th way people think of chrstians. but it is strong, if you have a good pastor, that tells you the truth and truly knows God, then your faith should grow. but with teens today going to church is just a thing to do. or maybe they have always gone but never put to practice what they have learned. that is what makes christianity seem fake and boring. christianity in these united states could save our counrty from going down hill.

I think Christianity in the US is getting a little outrageous. I think most of this is due to the first amendment, and the fact that most Christian conservatives basically believe in good old Manifest Destiny.

I think for the most part it can be summed up by the words of our lord, when talking to the religious leaders of the day he said,

You are like whitewashed tombs. Clean and pretty on the outside, inside, full of dead men's bones.

I dont think most people truly live out there Faith. It seems like we just go to church and dont really live out our faith 24/7. For example Christmas, are we really celebrating the birth of our Savior? or just mindlessly handing out presents to each other.

It has become convoluted to the point that with all the false teachers and false doctrines out there, one must be very careful whom they listen to.

It is weak and shallow due to the devil's introduction of the 'secret rapture' doctrine in the mid 1800's.
