I am considering buying a French Bulldog, is there anything I should know? Of course I have looked up the breed thoughroully online, but I was just wonderiing if anyone who has one or has had one had any advice.

Also - do they shed a lot? I could not seem to find that online...

Thank you! :D

They do shed a fair amount. I've known enough people who got them thinking they don't shed, and then found out otherwise.

Have you checked out the site for the French Bulldog Club of America? They've got lots of great information there.

You might also check if there's a regional club near you. The best way to find out about Frenchies is to go to their social events and talk to the people that actually own them.

You might also go to some local dog shows and see if you can talk to the Frenchie people there.

I had one. He was a great dog. Stubborn, sheds a lot, had major allergies that gave his coat a moth-eaten look most of the year. Bad gas no matter what he ate. Quite energetic. Comical dogs though. VERY stubborn!!

Frenchies are wonderful dogs. YES they shed a ton!

They often have breathing issues but are sweet and loyal dogs. Also give him/her lots of exercise.

Good luck and congrats!

Cute dogs...I love them! But, my friend that has one says that everyone wanred her that they're big vet bills...allergies, bone issues, etc... They can be really in-bred, so find a REALLY good breeder to keep future vet bills down.
