They seem healthy and very happy. Momma cat doesn't seem to mind and it's only for a few short minutes. They eat regular kitten food that out all day and they get wet food given in the evening.

Everyone thinks this is odd and bad for them, but i can't think why. it's sems natural and healthy to me.

LOL all the kittens ive raised (about 11) have all done this..they will nurse off the mom for as long as she will let them nurse.

My cat Chiona had a new litter of kittens and one of her old kittens from a previous litter (he was about 4months old) suddenly started nursing on her again..and the funny thing is she let him! All of the kittens ive had nurse long after they are suppose to..even after they are eating kitten food.

I dont see a problem with it.....as the kittens got older Chiona suddenly wouldn't let them nurse..the mom will tell them when its enough!

Well, it is sort of the equivalent of a 10 year old human child still breastfeeding - would you not think that was weird? It won't do the kittens any physical harm, but obviously the mother is not spayed yet, and that could certainly do her harm.

This is not particularly unusual. Kittens will continue to suckle for as long as the mother lets them, it's a comfort thing. Same with human children; mothers continue to produce milk for as long as they're being suckled from, if the mother doesn't stop them then they won't stop.

The kittens will be fully weaned by this age, and therefore it is time to get the mother cat spayed. She was capable of getting pregnant again from around the day after she gave birth - PLEASE don't bring any more kittens into the world at this time. If you want more, go to a shelter to get some.

Its a LITTLE strange, but definately not BAD. As long as theyre eating their kitten food, and eventually stop getting mothers milk it is fine.
Milk is high in fat and good for growth. The only thing you want to remember is if you have gotten them spayed, it stops certain hormones from being released, thus making it easier for them to gain weight. Once youve gotten them spayed you should try and stop it...if it hasnt already

yea regulare people stop breast feeding like at 1 or 2 years so the mom will stop giving milk when shes ready so it's pretty healthy seems to me.

well i've heard the longer kittens are with their mother and drinking the milk then the better! surely this can only mean they will be stronger, healthier cats when their grown up :) Just make sure they are eating propper kitten food too, it will fill them up and they will soon wean off their mothers milk.

You are right it is natural and healthy. They are still growing and need all the minerals and vitamins they can and when the time comes the mother cat will ween them off herself.
