I have been married to my high school sweetheart for 3.5 years. He is 22 years old and in the military. He is still stuck on his cartoons and watches them ALL THE TIME!
He has all the seasons of the Simpsons and watches them on the weekends, while he eats breakfast, lunch and dinner. It never fails. He says, "just one episode of the Simpsons." When he watches them he laughs so hard for the stupidest things. I mean, it's a damn cartoon. It's not that serious. When I tell him that I think he's too old to watch them. He smacks his lips and says, "The creators of the Simpsons is the same creator of the show the office," which is my favorite show. He gets defensive when I tell him it's a turn off.
He is also hooked on Naruto and pretty much begs me to watch them with him. I out grew cartoons when I was in Middle school.

Is this normal behavior for a 22 yr old man?

GUYS: Do you behave this way or have similiar obsessions?

GIRLS: Would you be turned off by this? Is this normal?

ok , first I'de like to say, "congradulations" on your marriage , three and a half years, thats not bad. but this is still the beginning. You still have many many things to learn about one another. ok , a man that is 22 years old and still watches cartoons....I Think there are alot of things to be greatful for. For Example. Its not porn. He's at home where you can know he's safe. He's not in a bad mood. All Im saying is there is a lot worst-ter-is-tis-is things he could be out doing. You know, he does fight for our country.......Give the man the Simpsons
and who knows?....besides cartoons are great. also you should never feel to old to act like a kid. happiness is laughter and laughfter is great for your sole. k ? ok take care.

It seems he has a slight obsession, but I wouldn't be to worried. The Simpson's is fine for him to watch but maybe only let him watch them at one meal. Naruto, he shouldn't be watching. I am almost positive that that show is for like 10 year olds. Try finding a more adult show that he likes a lot. Also, explain to him that The Office is WAY different than The Simpson's. I would be more concerned about Naruto than the Simpson's though. The reason being, is that The Simpson's is an adult cartoon.

Yes, it would be a slight turn off to me, but DON'T let it ruin your marriage.

I think you are the one who's taking this a little too seriously. So what if he's watching cartoons? I'm 25 and I still watch cartoons. Hell, I watch more cartoons than mind-numbing reality shows. At least with cartoons like Simpsons and Family Guy, it shows some brains in their humour. It's just a show, I don't know why you need to get on the offense on him about it. Leave the poor man alone.

I'm sad to say that I think it is fairly normal. My husband is about to turn 42, and records every episode of The Simpsons that airs every day. That may not sound like a lot, but I have satellite tv, and I get episodes that air on East Coast channels, West Coast channels, and national channels. At 7:30 every evening, and 8:00 on Sundays, I can't watch anything, because the machine is busy recording on both of the incoming receivers (if it's not The Simpsons, it's Family Guy and/or Futurama).

My TiVo box is so full that I almost can't record anything else...If you look, you're likely to see 20+ episodes of Family Guy and 40+ episodes of The Simpsons.

I am reasonably turned off by it, but at the same time, my husband doesn't complain about my daily recording of Dr. Phil, so I suppose it goes both ways.

Perhaps you could arrange to have the tv off during dinner...at least that way you could have one "adult" meal and a little time together.

You remind me of these kids now days who thinks that your not supose to watch cartoons by time you get into middle school because it makes you a baby.well it doesnt,if you think about it these cartoon creators are mostly in their 40's who makes cartoons for YOUR KIDS.does that make them a baby????
quit being so damn whinny at your husband cartoon watching and worry about other stuff that is more important...like your kids christmas

I am almost 22 and me and my guy love the Simpsons and family guy and south park and all sorts of cartoons. It is perfectly normal for adults to watch cartoons these days allot of cartoons are geared towards adults rather than children. Dont let it bug you it not his fault he happens to like cartoons. Try to love the fact that he has a quirky little hobby like watching cartoons. At least he doesn't sit on the computer looking at porn all day like some guys. He is totally normal don't worry.
Ps
I love how you put this in the toddler/preschooler section. lol

That's pretty annoying. I would totally be turned off by it. However, some people really like the Simpsons.. I think it's a guy thing? I never thought it was that funny. it sounds like you need to have a talk and try and meet in the middle... Ask him if he can turn it off while you're eating dinner together.. at least then it's not always on.

I don't think that The Simpsons is your everyday cartoon. It is not aimed at children, has adult humour and well, is written for adults.

I, personally wouldn't be turned off by this, there are worse vices in life, and I would sit and laugh with him coz it is very funny. You just need to get the joke.

But then I don't understand the 'humour' of The Office.....

yes, I think there are quite a number of guys that age who watch the Simpsons. If it were children's cartoons it might be weird. I mean, I don't find Simpsons to be good entertainment for myself, but I think it's pretty normal for guys to like them.
