They all cook rice because rice is part of the asian culture. Pretty much every single meal that they eat goes with rice.

The same reason Americans cook Hotdogs and Burgers. They do not question the content of the food, just eat it. It so happens that if rice is cooked properly it does stick. It is very different to Western long grain rice.

It's their form of starch.........as potatoes are to us here in the US and the UK, and the favored starch in Italy is obviously pasta.......different cultures, different starches to serve with the meal......and in the Philippines, they use a sticky glutenous rice......hence, then clumping.....some people prefer it that way......Just a matter of cultural preference......Enjoy!!
