My boyfriend and I are both 18 and have been going out for 6 months. It's not that I dislike the clothes he wears now, but I think he'd look really good, and I'd love to see him in something like a button-down instead of the baggy-ish t-shirts he wears now. Is there any way to get him to wear them without being pushy?

just tell him flatout, the worst that can happen is he'll say no.

Been there. Done that.
My ex bf used to strictly wear jeans, t-shirts, hoodies and sneakers, regardless of where we were going or what we were doing. I hated it with a passion.
I wasn't mean about it - I even offered to TAKE HIM shopping for a couple of outfits that would be drastically different than what he was used to wearing, citing that I didn't want to change his entire wardrobe, just give him a few new peices. Even that was too much for him and we had this major fight about how he didn't need anyone changing him. (sigh)
There really is no gentle way to talk about it, I guess. I had to step back and ask myself how would *I* feel if someone said the same thing to me. (?) It is almost passing judgment on who he is.
Since this is the giving season, just ask him if he would *maybe* like some new duds for Christmas and engage in the convo that way. If he refuses, don't push. Love him the way he is.
Good luck!

Refuse to go out with him until he cleans up his clothing act. I sort of like button downs, even with a tie sometimes.
