can someone who does not show any symtoms of a disease transmit that disease?

Yes. Most diseases have a gestational stage where they have yet to show any symptoms. In many cases, that is when people are most contagious, just before they get sick. Think colds. The flu. Every one gets it within a few days of each other, because one person was exposed. A few days later, they exposed someone else, even though they don't show symptoms for about a week.

A perfect example of a 'disease' most people have and never know it is HPV. A woman can have the virus and never show a single symptom, but find out when they have an annual pap test done. And any man who is a carrier of the disease would never know. I don't even think they can test men for it, but they can pass it along.

Also, another STD. HIV! Most people who are infected don't know they are infected until several years later, yet they still carry and pass on the virus to others.
