For the 11th time....no wait... if an atheist asks the air thing, do I subtract one time instead of adding?
It's what's known as a sraw man argument, deliberately misrepesenting the opposing opinion, and refuting that misrepresented claim.
Also, it's possible they're just reading too much into statements like "show me god" They assume visibility is the issue, when it usually means "show me proof of god".

Actually, water is a much better analogy.
It's everywhere, even when we don't see it.
You need it to live.
Some people insist that pure water is the only way to imbibe, but others find fruit juice, or even alcoholic beverages to be perfectly acceptable.
Some drink from cut crystal, while others slake their thirst from dirty plastic cups, but it's still the same water.
The problem is that some people are willing to kill other people because they drink out of glass that's a different colour than theirs.

what is the motive to constantly call out Christians; if you don't believe fine but is it a constant mission to try to bring others with you?? this is religion and spirituality , what is the intent if you have none?? easy insults with a few keystrokes , behind a computer screen when you don't have to do it face to face; your lungs are working , your heart is working and you are not even controlling what is going on within your own being; you didn't do ; you were done; it is your choice to not believe, it is my choice to believe; if you feel that Christians infiltrate the process then get involved, vote, run for office, volunteer; the people who complain the most do the least; it isn't right to single out anyone it is bad for humanity and doesn't add to anything but takes away from everything. Your life , your choice, my life , my choice

Because some dufus in their church taught them to parrot that at Atheists because some twit somewhere decided it was a good anology for God's existence and convinced hundreds (or thousands) of people that was the case. Likely by using big words and complex sentences and making it sound all "sciencey" and stuff.

Because they are a bunch of mindless idiots who have been told that it is a good analogy by someone else and have not thought it through to realize that it is a really bad analogy.

It's very simple to understand, needs no education at all, and it's easy to put your fingers in your ears and go 'LALALALA I'm not listening' when people point out the fallacies in their argument.
Therefore, they like it because it dovetails nicely with the rest of their beliefs.

It's something we can't touch, see, smell, taste, or hear....but we know it's there.
Sure, you can put it in a container and measure it...but other than that, you wouldn't know it was there...

Because they have no way to prove that God exists. Since we can't see or feel or sense "god" in anyway shape or form. But, it's never really helped me to believe in god.
