I would call the Doctors office, honestly he shouldn't be having migraines at that age it could be more serious. I am not kidding or wanting to sound like a jerk but in all honesty my sister had "migraines" really bad as a younger child. When she was 9 she was home sick from school because of a 'migraine' she ended up having a stroke at 9 dieing 13 months later of a brain tumor. Because of a "migraine"

Migraines cannot be controlled with a damp rag or any other home remedy, but a damp rag and quiet, dark place helps to cope with the headache, although, some people have migraines that cannot even be controlled with prescription drugs. You may not be able to provide much help unless he sees a doctor - you'll just have to see what happens. Some of the prescription drugs can sometimes completely eliminate migraines in a few minutes, and they usually stop the cycle so they don't return again the next day.

Its possible he has some other type of headache. Its not very common for a person 8 years old to have a migraine headache. Given the time of year, a sinus headaches seems more likely, unless he has a history of migraines. Sinus headaches can be treated with a decongestant (like the original sudafed), and expectorant (like Mucinex), and acetaminophen for pain relief.

Caffeine has been proven to help with migraine headaches. When I suffer from a migraine I don't want anyone near me making any kind of noise. I want the lights off and I can't remember any migraine where a cold rag would have helped. It's not a fever. I go straight to the hosipital and get an anti inflammatory to reduce the swelling of the blood vessels in my head.

I work as a health room nurse in a school and when kids complain of migraines I give them an ice pack to place on the back of their neck and it does wonders. I myself am a migraine sufferer and found this helpful too.

sometimes something cool on the head will help. A darkened quiet room sometimes helps. But really, if he is 8 and having migraines I believe he needs to be seen by a doctor.
