Also, lay public were afraid to give CPR because they did NOT want to mouth to mouth breathing--so they did nothing. Studies then demonstrated chest compression were better than nothing even with out the mouth to mouth; and most people have several minutes of oxygen still around in their blood so getting it circulated still delivers some O2 to the tissues--enough to get by until help arrives. ACLS still uses breathing via ETT or ambu bag etc.

Chest compressions keeps blood and oxygen flowing... chest compressions also cause a breathing pattern in the lungs so oxygen is also cycled in them with chest compressions... similar to taking short quick breaths. Thus its more important to "keep the body warm" by keeping the blood flowing, then the actually pause all the time to give a good deep breath.

The person doesnt need to relax with deep breaths :)

Less interruptions in the chest compressions is more beneficial to the patient?

because those in power feel that the old algorithm didn't work as well.
