It is definitely a sign of affection! Cats have scent glands in the cheeks and foreheads and when she rubs her head against you she is "marking" you as HERS. She is making sure that any cat or other animal that crosses your path knows that you belong to her and you are her "property", so to speak.

When cats nudge or "bonk" you with their heads, it's a sign of affection and also that they're marking you as "their" territory. But they're also picking up YOUR scent (or if they rub against your clothing, the scents of places you've been) so they can get to know that.

Cats have scent glands on the top and sides of their head, so when they nudge, or bump they are effectively marking you as theirs. Its a sign of affection.

It's a sign of affection but it's weird sometimes because my cat tries to bury its head in my armpits.

Its a sign of affection and a try for attention. Both my cats do it to me, one more than the other, and usually when she is trying to find the best place on my lap/beside me to lay down.

When cats nudge you with their nose, they're bonding.
When cats sorts rub the side of their face against you, they're marking you with scent. Basically claiming you as territory/property.

Cats scent mark with glands in their cheeks, when they rub their heads on you they are marking you as "theirs"... this can be a sign of affection, but also a sign of dominance.

Cats have some kind of gland on their cheek which when rubbed gives off a pheramone which makes them feel happy. That is why they rub their cheeks on you. That is what my cats' vet told me anyway when he met them for the first time and stroked and cuddled them around the face.

one of mine does it so hard sometimes it's like he's trying to knock me out! mine certainly seem to do it as a sign of affection; especially when they purr & drool at the same time! i love it; cats get such bad press, saying they aren't affectionate like dogs, when i know it's all rubbish! i get all the affection i want from my lovely moggies. diane.

Cats do that because they like you and they are wipeing their scent of you. In other words, cats rub their scent on things like that to show other cats that it is their property and they don't want any other cats to go near it. They do it to furniture and items, even eople which they may find usful to them.
