I have a 97 Taurus and when I start the car in the morning the radio will only work for about ten minutes and it will only turn on if the car hasn't been started in abut ten hours or so. every other time i start the car it doesn't turn on( none of it) even the climate control lights. If I turn on the lights while the car is off all the climate control lights and track number lights will glow but then i start it and they trun off.

There could be some distinctive motives right here. first of all, seek for loose wires or connections to the lighting fixtures or their sockets. additionally seek for blown bulbs. A sloppy radio installer can try this with the help of improperly connecting capacity wires, etc. i might uninstall the radio, hint all wires (capacity cord, speaker wires, etc) and reinstall them to be sure they are executed proper. My wager is whoever put in the different radio screwed it up royally and the two cut back some incorrect wires and/or blew some bulbs (that are obtainable from a broking or probable vehicle zone, NAPA, etc.) If yo are in over your head or are afraid to objective to do it your self, pass to a place that sells/installs vehicle audio, or to a broking's provider dept. for help. wish this information helped slightly.

Probably something internal, it would be pretty hard to diagnose. You should be able to find one pretty cheap at a salvage yard. Try http://www.car-part.com

You could also replace it with an aftermarket radio. For that, you would need a mounting kit and wiring harness, as well as the new radio unit.

You have a dead short in the electrical system.

Going to take an electrician or mechanic to trace it down.
