Sore but not painful. Sore to the touch, but not red and painful without touching it. If turns red and painful with yellow or green milky drainage, then you've got an infected piercing and need to see a doctor soon! Soreness for the next 6 months is normal. Wear clothing that doesn't bind around the area of your belly button and make sure you wash your hands before manipulating it to clean it.

Mine stayed sore! But, it got infected and "forced" it's way out of my belly button ripping the skin because I was allergic to the nickle in it! So, be careful! As you as you can change it, try to change it to another material and see if that helps with the soreness! If not, I would take it out if it starts to look infected (mine kept having infection/pus come out no matter how well I cleaned it)! That way you don't have an ugly scar just a small one where it goes in and comes out!

Yeah, as long as it's not red colored then your fine. Alot of the time mine was sore was because either my pants were rubbing on it or when I sat at a desk my belly button would touch and that irritated it.

I was sore for a while, then it was infected for up to a year after. So it kept getting sore. Keep cleaning it; besides in the shower clean it with peroxide in the morning and at night. Try to "air it out" by not wearing tight shirts. If things get worse, go see a dermotologist.

yes mine was sore for about three- four weeks. if it is still red and maybe itching or something like that call your piercer and ask if you should be concerned

Why did you go and do this? I hope you can understand how stupid this sounds to someone my age. Imagine when you are confined to the nursing home. What will your grandkids think about you as they grow up? Times do change!
