Personally, im not sure, but its because since no one knows what Prophet Muhammad looks like, you can't name a nonliving thing like a teddy bear that. You can name people Muhammad though.

for all those people who are insulting islam and my religion, please, stop.

o and senorita, wth??!?!?!?! what kind of stereotype is that? if i said all christians were missionaries and hated all other religions would that be true? as a muslim, im proud to say that we don't think everyone hates us. YOU may think everyone hates us, but you're very very wrong.

To be honest, naming the teddy bear Mohammed is not so terrible. Im speaking of a Muslim point of view here.
We need to look at the different cultures. See in the West, we see teddies as being cute, soft and something to cuddle up with. In Sudan bears are seen as viscious animals and eat humans. By naming the teddy Mohammed was to them being seen as though they were callin Mohammed a horrible human being etc. It was a huge misunderstanding.

To get the best answer for your question, I suggest asking the people who got all upset over Andres Serrano's art piece with a crucifix in urine.

The artist received a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts, and generated a storm of controversy and frothing at the mouth by hypocritical Christians who used some pretty strong hate-language while protesting it.

Why do I call them hypocritical? Because these people hopped up and down like they were lunatics when the crucifix-in-urine was displayed, and then afterwards wanted to know what all the fuss was about throwing a Koran in the toilet, or a teddy bear called Mohammed.

The point here, is that some people will get all bent out of shape when THEIR religion is poked fun of, ridiculed, or insulted, but they feel that other's religions are fair game, and can't understand why there's such a fuss.

You can't have it both ways. Christians complained back then, so it's the Muslim's turn to complain now.

When one considers that ALL religion is just delusional idiocy, it makes the triviality and the ludicrousness of the entire situation even more trivial and ludicrous.

How do Muslim households name Mohammad for every other child?
If people can be named what is wrong in naming something else that people love as Mohammad. I can understand someone naming with an intent to insult the Islam's prophet, is deplorable.
But the mistake made in innocence should have been excused with a warning at best.

Islam hates all non ( Islam) believers .

Islam REALLY hates Jews .

Islam (almost) tolerates Christians .

Islam hates America because the USA supports Isreal's right to exist .
And America supports people rights to be Hindu , Atheist , Jains , Moonies , etc.

Islam clerics and other leaders constantly find what they can to rile up the Muslims agaist the USA . This gives them power and authority .

Islamic clerics rountinly preach about the American Evils including everything from eating Pizza to allowing girls to ride bicycles .

Here is just one of hundreds of recent ( and idiotic) attempts to stir up anti USA sentiment :

You must remember that the vast majority of Muslims are poorly educated and living 500 years in the past . The ones living in big modern societies like Dubai often follow a "reformed" type of Islam although it is not admitted to . But those living in huts and 12 people in a two room apartment ( such as in France and the Netherlands and Jersey City USA ) are behind the times when it comes to rational thinking . Even the college educated ones think with the mind that they had as a child . Just like Michael Vicks millions of dollars and a college education didn't stop him from fighting Pit Bulls like a ghetto gangbanger , neither do those things help Muslims who were brought up in a home of fear and repression .

Jos_scr .. I agree with you . BUT you have to remember that the government in none of those places where that art work and ( 2 ) similar pieces were displayed , supported the punishment of the artist(s) . That is why Religion and Governments must remain seperate . It is only in Religious controlled countries ( All Islamic states , Isreal , and the Vatican ) that you have this type of problem .

just-being ... What is you proof of that claim ? Plese post up or shut up !

gnostic ... "Imagine ..." John Lennon .

The Tribune ... Educated , sane people don't jail , whip or kill people for a lapse of social etiquette . A simple " I don't think that was a good thing to do . " will suffice .

The reason why is because Muslims do not believe in idolity and naming an inatimate object after somone that is held in such high reguard was insulting. Now the publicity of this is due to media frenzy. It's kind of like how the poparatizzi follow Brittany Spears every bad move, you do not see the tender hugs she has given her children. Same with Islam you do not see the good things on the news, such as the charity work, the fact that you rairly have infidelity in marriages etc.

I think people are really acting up over it. If a little kid named a teddy Mohammed I would be happy, at least they know who he is! And can't that also be viewed as worship? Really. If an Islamic kid named his teddy Jesus would we care? Plus the fact they are kids. Do they know any better? It's like saying "damn" around a baby, they'll repeat it but we don't yell at them. We go "oh ****, how did they do that?" and teach them it was wrong. I don't get what all the fuss is about.

i bought a Teddy undergo for £10, named it Muhammed, bought it for £20, replaced into that a prophet? no longer my humorous tale, somebody else asked that query at right here. heavily Sudan has gotten itself a destructive recognition for this act, and frankly a number of this is human beings talked approximately as for her dying, does not practice Muslims to be undesirable human beings, by way of fact neither the government or those individuals are genuine Muslims, the Koran is a non violent e book.

I think in general it is better to stay away from obvious religious names such as Mohammed, Jesus, etc. I think ppl overreacted and took it the wrong way. The teacher wasn't trying to offend the religion, as it wasn't even her who chose the name.

It's not so terrible, but many Muslims are very touchy about their religious icons. That's one reason they have a very difficult time assimilating into Western culture because Americans and Europeans love to satirize and make fun of religious and political persons and icons.
