For the person who said that some Witnesses do vote. If they vote then they are not true Witnesses.

I really, really think they are missing the point but JEHOVAH'S WITNESSES have never fought in a war. Because we are neutral and we don't vote, or go to war to kill our brothers. for more info http://watchtower.org

Neutrality
Def: The position of those who do not take sides with or give support to either of two or more contending parties. It is a fact of acient and modern-day history that in every nation and under all circumstances true Christians have endeavored to maintain complete neutrality as to conflicts between factions of the world. They do not interfere with what others do about sharing in patriotic ceremonies, serving the in the armed forces, joining a political party, running for a political office, or voting. But they themselves worship only Jehovah, the God of the Bible; they have dedicated their lives unreservedly to him and give their full support to his Kingdom.

Romans 13:1, 5-7: "Let every soul be in subjection to the superior authorities [governmental rulers], for there is no authority except by God; the existing authorities stand placed in their relative positions by God. 5 There is therefore compelling reason for YOU people to be in subjection, not only on account of that wrath but also on account of [YOUR] conscience. 6 For that is why YOU are also paying taxes; for they are God’s public servants constantly serving this very purpose. 7 Render to all their dues, to him who [calls for] the tax, the tax; to him who [calls for] the tribute, the tribute; to him who [calls for] fear, such fear; to him who [calls for] honor, such honor." (No government could exist without God's permission. Regardless of the conduct of individual officials, true Christians have shown them respect because of the office they occupied. Mark 12:17: "Jesus then said: “Pay back Caesar’s things to Caesar, but God’s things to God.” And they began to marvel at him." In answer Peter and the other apostles said: 'We must obey God as ruler rather than men.'" If you know someone who voted who claimed to be one of Jehovah's Witnesses, they have belied their claim. Jehovah's Witnesses don't vote. Period.

The Bible says that "the whole world is lying in the power of the wicked one." So, who's to vote for? All nations are now in power without any Divine authority. Only the Lord Jesus Christ has the authority to rule as king. And according to Daniel 2:44, his rulership will put all others out of office.

Christians are to be "no part of the world." Seems that "born-again, Christian" politicians forget about that.

Which of all the politicians voted into office have really made this a better world for all mankind?

Lol you sound just like my brother in law who argues the same thing! Well, you admit that our governments are doing a rotten job, so that is something and it is also true that we do see some results, which is exactly how it should be. So think of it this way: what if every single one of us decided to not vote - what do you suppose would happen? A revolt; a stoppage of work? Or the government realising that it is the people who count, not their pockets and start to do what they are supposed to do? Jehovah has allowed our governments to exists and for the reason you state, but that does not mean, He wants His servants to vote for them! No, He want our vote to got to Him. Think of the book of Judges in the bible. They had a perfect leader - Jehovah, but because of their lack of faith and foresight, they decided because they could not see Him, that they would be left stranded so to speak and yet time and time again, He has proved to be with them. So He grants them their wish, but look at all the strife that occurred because of this? It is not a bible interpretation - it is reading and understanding and following in Jesus footsteps. Did he welcome it when people wanted to make him a leader? No, on the contrary, he fled from them! He said. What we as christians are expected to do, is to pay Cesar's things to Cesar and God's to God's and so we pay our taxes etc, but will NOT VOTE and any true christian should not either!! I must add that we do vote actually - but for our Creator! Edit: Although I do believe Sharon is a witness, she is struggling, hence the reason why she says: the watchtower will know doubt tell us. So with that I have to say that she is wrong! Even if voting was made mandatory, we would NOT vote - even if that meant prison!

Technically, Jehovah's Witnesses can vote (see The Watchtower of November 1, 1999, pages 28,29). Almost uniformly, however, they choose not to.

They believe that God's Messianic Kingdom is a real government which will soon replace all human governments. Jehovah's Witnesses consider themselves to be ambassadors or envoys of God's government, and so believe that they must demonstrate political and nationalist neutrality.

(John 18:36) Jesus answered: “My kingdom is no part of this world

(Daniel 2:44) God of heaven will set up a kingdom... It will crush and put an end to all these kingdoms, and it itself will stand to times indefinite

When Jehovah's Witnesses do choose to vote, they typically write in the name "Jehovah" or "Jesus". Sadly, most humans are unwilling to swear allegiance to either of those names; that saddens but does not surprise Jehovah's Witnesses.

(John 15:18-19) If the world hates you, you know that it has hated me before it hated you. If you were part of the world, the world would be fond of what is its own. Now because you are no part of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, on this account the world hates you.

Upon their anointing, each born-again son of God becomes a "naturalized" citizen of the Jerusalem above—even though they still reside physically upon the earth.

At Philippians 3:20 Paul wrote: "As for us, our citizenship exists in the heavens." That is, in fact, why anointed Christians are also described as "alien residents" while they are in the flesh; because from God's perspective they are actually residents of heaven merely residing in a foreign land (earth).

Therefore, Jehovah's Witnesses do not give involved with other countries politics since the anointed are dignitaries of Jehovah’s kingdom and the other sheep are its citizen’s merely residing in a foreign land.

The witnesses are neutral when it comes to politics
they don't vote or run for office. They don't serve in the military or police forces. They don't do jury duty. Or give blood.
They do pay taxes. They abide by the laws of the land. They will never take up arms for any reason. They are honest and hard working people. Their mission in life is to help others spiritually and to seek first His Kingdom of peace and security in the new world.

We voted already..... for God's Kingdom.

People do not realize really how unifying neutrality is. I don't know how it is where you live, but in other places (e.g like where I lived in Africa) the run-up to the elections is a dangerous time. People get beaten up badly over political arguments, neighbours have been known to burn down houses just because the other feels that another political party is better.

I like knowing that no matter where I travel in the world, even if my country and the country of my brothers and sisters are at war, there will be no hard feelings among us.

Yes, it's true!
In fact even Jesus refused to be elected king by the popular vote of the Jewish people, because he recognized that his appointment and his authority to be king came from God. He did not derive his power to govern from the consent of the governed, that is to say, from the people. (Luke 4:5-8; John 6:14, 15) So he kept subject to the Supreme Authority, God.

one person said they know some witnesses who do vote. that is a lie. we only vote for Jehovah's Kingdom to come. even before I became a Jehovah Witness I hardly voted. they say they will do something and when they get into office. they never do what they said. the only one who never lies to us is Jehovah God and Jesus Christ.

That's right, we believe that only God's Kingdom can fix the things that are wrong with this world. Man has messed it up so badly that only God can fix it.
