Is it really a virtue when you have no choice? There are many things that if I had a choice in the matter I'd not nearly be so virtuous!

Patience when helping someone is a virtue. Other times are arguable.

No, not necessarily.
In my experience patience is a virtue when it comes to a few things; interest accrual, presidential terms, children, and door to door religious people.
Where it is not an asset in my life; anytime where love is concerned, where time is concerned, and where dreams are concerned. Time is essential in life, dreams have a lifespan that must be utilized, and love must be grasped when the opportunity is granted....lest you could lose those opportunities. Just my opinion....

To act in haste, is usually to act rashly. It is best not to act rashly, even if speed is required. If you must, be speedy but thoughtful.

Do not use these as reasons to delay what you know you should do.

I think it depends. If I were drowning, and I had to wait for some one to remove their shoes before they'd jump in after me, I'd say no.
Of course it is a virtue.
