When you file your 2007 tax return in early 2008, you not only can, but must, file as married, either a joint return or married filing separately.

Yes, I was married in October 2006 and when I did my 06' taxes we filed as married. Good luck and congrats!

Yes. As long as you're married by December 31, you can file as married.

If you are Married as of 12/31/2007 you must file as Married. Whether you file "Jointly" or "Separately" is up to you.

"Jointly" is almost always better.

Yes. Income tax planning will become more complex with time though. Be careful and farm out your taxes to someone who isn't emotionally attached. Just like a good doctor won't treat himself a good accountant will farm out his own taxes and a good lawyer will get legal advise and counsel when dealing with his own estate.
