That's pretty much how santa works anyway...you must believe if you want presents (or don't want bad presents.) That works until you learn how the world really works, and people are finally honest with you.

Nothing in Christianity is that harsh, God will always forgive, well at least according to Catholicism, and a lot of children already believe in him, after all he is St. Nicolas and I believe there is/was a St. Nicolas, even though he was a robber.

We would have to respect their belief in Santa so that we don't inadvertantly disrupt their cooperative social control that makes them inherintly good and passive.
