One of the major factors was this:
I only believed in the natural world growing up. I become aware of the reality of the spiritual realm, and tried to deny it for years. I knew if there were evil spirits, then I was helpless to defend myself (no, I hadn't ever taken drugs). Tried various religions to no avail, I did not want to quit life, but saw no other way to escape. Someone from college kept bugging me to go to church, until I finally went to Calvary Chapel. I was apprehensive and somewhat scared these wild-eyed christians, like I saw in the movies, might try to drag me into their cult. They had good music, and just talked about and read from the bible, and I actually had a decent time. I kept going. Finally this person I knew that brought me, paid for me to go to a singles retreat. I didn't want to go, but they spent pretty good money of their own to pay my way, so I went. I figured I could always take my car and leave if I wanted. When we went into smaller groups, I ended up accepting Jesus as a last resort since nothing else worked, or that is what seemed to be going on in my heart. There were many others things going on and went on, but the bottom line was the living resurrected Jesus had power over of these real demons that were plaguing me, and he took them away and restored my mind and thoughts.

I'm a spirit-filled Christian believer. But that doesn't mean I live a life of spiritual excitement, with technicolor visions and special knowledge. It means that I have a sincere desire to know our Creator and His Son, Jesus Christ. I fulfill this desire not by begging for revelations, but by studying the Bible, praying about anything and everything, fasting from time to time, and seeking out like-minded believers. I came to the Lord because I asked in prayer. It was incredibly simple and anticlimactic. I simply prayed to know who God is. The Holy Spirit made it very clear to me that my Lord is Jesus Christ. This understanding stayed with me, along with a desire to know more by praying and reading the Bible, which I did and do.

In Matthew 12:39, Jesus' words are recorded, warning us against seeking signs. There are several church denominations where many members are engaged in seeking signs, such as revelations, prophecy, and speaking in tongues. The use of these gifts is clearly described in the Word, but many of the people seeking and portraying these gifts are not expressing them in Biblical order, which suggests that they are engaged in sin. Moreover, I have noticed that many of these people who are spiritually adulterous (that's how Jesus describes it) have problems with sin in their lives--they're angry, addicted, or have other problems, such as they doubt their salvation and their faith is weak--they rely on their experiences rather than God's promises. In other words, they don't have the Holy Spirit, they just have a lot of fake spiritual experiences.

My life is completely different with Jesus in it. I was an atheist less than 4 years ago. Now I'm quieter, less sinful, and more at peace with myself and others. I have respect for God, for Jesus, and for what Jesus has done for me. I understand what evil is, and what good is, and what my role is in creation, and Jesus' role is in the redemption of mankind from sin. Most of all, I understand that God and His will is the most important thing, and I don't try to prove anything to God or other men by having experiences. I simply try to keep Jesus in my heart and prayers as each day goes on.

I am not christian but I found My self, God, through krishna consciousness but the feelings you get from either religion is the same.

It first took me 2 months of solid maha-mantra chanting to even feel a bit of the divine. I chanted 2 hours every day for 2 months. I felt like I walked around all day, floating, like nothing could touch me. . . disease, death, poverty, vice. . . none of these things touched me. chanting was like a detoxification of the soul.
God only comes to those who call for him, like a child calling for his mother, God will answer you if you offer Him love and devotion. When you get answered, its like getting an electrical surge charged through your entire body but in such a pleasurable way its hard to describe in words. Its also like being in a trance or dream state, but totally conscious to it all. To explain it to a non-believer, think of the best orgasm you have ever had, think about it really hard. That feeling is just a drop of water compared to the ocean of eternal, unconditional bliss that God gives his true devotees.
"Such love of God cannot be checked by any material cause". --A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada

I have finally come to understand what the Bible is and what God expects of me. Because of this I don't worry about death anymore. I don't worry about much of anything. I know where I am going and how I am going to get there. The weight of the world is off my shoulders.

A crises in my life was the cause of my change, it has given me that peace of mind that the world cannot give, revelations are best kept to ones self, they are too sacred.

I could answer this but I don't think you would like the answer you would get. Why should God reveal anything to anyone? Faith is word that Christians like to throw around. So, it comes down to that. You believe or you don't with or without proof.

I had been praying and reading the Bible. I was looking for "The True Church". Reading the New Testament suddenly my eyes seemed to flip around and I was looking down inside myself and there was light.
The Bible is the book of light.

God has shown me that the church is the biggest and most powerful tool of Satan. in close second is the international banking industry. both are institutions which enslave their captive audiences into believing what they are told and not thinking for themselves.

it has changed the way i view everything. especially "Christans" and "Freedom" loving Americans.

tools of the system whether they know it or not, whether they like it or not. the only true freedom is within your own mind.

Hi, my name is River, and I'm a 'spirit filled christian believer'.

God came to me in a vision, and told me that everything that people have been doing in his name ever since the beginning of time has been a complete misrepresentation of what what he intended.

He said that all religions are equally false, and told me that we all need to stop fighting and learn to get along.

Otherwise he's going to blow up the entire planet in three months.
