Do people not realize that when they move here....?

Question

to another country, that sooner or later their "ways" will be left behind? That immigration into a country like Canada or the USA will eventually mean INTEGRATION?

It's frightening to think that people hold traditional values to such ridiculous high regard that one would kill their own daughter over these values, religious or otherwise.

How sad. Poor kid just wanted to fit in.

This is what is really sad but true with all ethnicities and not just this one, so don't go off on a rampage, it's not about attacking one race, but about knowing that leaving behind one country means embracing change for the future.

Nobody is asking them to leave their heritage behind, but people must know that the next generation will be different, now that they are in a new country with new ways.

It's just extremely sad that we can't protect children from their ridiculous and insane monsters they were born to.

OMG! I can't believe this, how horrible!
You are right. I am a foreigner myself, I believe we should assimilate because we are in America. I am not saying we should forget about our heritage but at least leave certain customs that may seem absurd for some people. A lot of these children may get picked-on or bullied.
I have a friend who is Muslim and makes her 10 year old daughter starve during Ramadan and sends her to school. Now, that I think it's just too much! I respect her ways because she is my friend, but I don't think she should make her starve for until sundown.
We should embrace change, because change is good.

You would think people would know that. I mean I seriously take it to basic levels. Not everybody runs their house the same way. Some
are so pristine you are afraid to sit. Others put their feet on the coffee table. Some people dig into dinner and others dine like they are in the presence of royalty. You adjust your behavior to respect the host......or you leave. You don't go degrading them or demanding they change for you. There's a little polite acceptance for differences but it takes some giving up of old things to adopt new one.

I think a few people have missed the point. Nobody is coming here to "take over"...that's Hollywood nonsense!! However, one's cultural practices do not ever take precedence over the rule of law. No matter what ethnic background one has or what religious affiliation is behind any action, murder is murder is murder.

Extremism in any faith, especially when it condones violence, is always dangerous. This case is small potatoes compared to what goes on in those countries. I can't fathom what goes in to turning perfectly normal human beings into such irrational monsters. Sad.

As a father, I find this story heartbreaking. My primary job as a father is to protect my daughter.
I do get frustrated at times with my kids actions....we all do....it comes with raising our children.
That man will have to live with his actions for the rest of his hopefully short life.

If that was true, why haven't Americans let go of some of the things their ancestors had when coming to the US? Should we stop eating Pizza, celebrating St Patty's Day? No.
People have the right to their own cultures. We acknowledge that when people come to the US, it is their right to retain, or discard, of their own free will, whatever it is they believe.
