Just a warning for parents visiting Parris Island DO NOT stay at the Howard Johnson Express Inn in Beaufort SC. We just went down to see my son graduate and the place was horrible. I was given a list of places near the base and didn't bother to do any research. After the fact I read many reveiws on the hotel that would have kept me away had I seen them earlier.

I stayed at a military HoJo once. I took a dump, went to flush and the toilet just shook. Not wanting the smell of **** in my bathroom all day, I flushed a second time. This time the contents of the toilet just erupted like a volcano in the bathroom. After taking a very very hot shower, I went to the front desk to complain. The woman's response was that no maintenance people were working today (Saturday) and I would have to wait until Monday. Also they would not send up a cleaning lady because she had already made her rounds. I asked for some cleaning supplies and was denied.

5 stars.

Then someone who has actually had an experience with this hotel should contact the Howard Johnson headquarters.
These hotel franchises do have certain standards, they have to live up to, and if they don't the chain will cancel the indivual contract , and the hotel would no longer be able to call themselves a Howard Johnson hotel.

You'd be doing a favor to those who go there in the future.
