I guess my son's school thinks so. They let him play outside for an hour today without a jacket on and the high today was only 54F.

The first thing he said to me when I picked him up was "mommy I didn't wear a jacket outside today". So I asked the teacher's aid since the teacher wasn't in the room and she said no he didn't but it was warm. I said I think 54 is cold enough for a jacket for a child. And she said she told him to wear one, but he says she didn't tell him to wear a jacket.

You don't need to wrap the 4 y o so tight they can barely waddle, but a jacket is called for, a hat would be good if it's also windy. I would definately question those in charge. Surely there was a jacket in lost and found that your child could have worn, but by the same token, didn't you send him to school in appropriate clothing for the weather? I run an after school program for elementary aged children and every day there is at least one child sent without proper clothing for the weather. Not saying that you do this, just saying.

Make a complaint. He should have been wearing his jacket and a teacher or the person responsible for watching him should have helped him put it on. We live in NH and it has to be 60 here to go outside at school with no jacket.

Yeah, thats pretty cold for a 4 yr old. Was he/she wearing some sort of long sleeved shirt like a sweater? I still think it's cold though.

It's a bit nippy. I've seen kids run outside in colder weather because they thought that they could get by with it. I wouldn't send my 4 year old outside without a coat OR without an adult watching over him/her.

No, I wouldn't have let him go outside in short sleeves (??) at that temperature.
