There is no way to stop her from shedding, especially during hte winter months, and when she looses her winter coat.
However, you can help decrease the shedding by placing a small amt of pure olive oil in the dog food (very small amt) this will keep the skin healthy and prevent excess hair loss due to skin irritation.
Bathe the dog with oatmeal shampoo (same reasons as using the olive oil)
And brush with a shedding brush to illiminate all loose hairs.
you have to remember the average person sheds 100 hairs per day (and its through the entire day so we're not losing them all int he house)
The dog sheds about twice that, and its all in the house..

First thing you would have to do is buy a grooming glove or my personal choice a Zoom Groom brush from your local pet store. Try grooming at least twice a week then cut back to once a week. Second try some suppliments I'm currently using shed stop but there are several others on the market. You'll see your best results by regular grooming than anything else, my dog loves the zoom groom!

You can't really stop the shedding, but you can help control it by grooming her regularly so she doesn't get hair everywhere. There's a great tool called the Furminator, it's a grooming brush and although it's much more pricey than regularly brushes, it's a incredibly worthy investment because the difference in how much hair it helps remove from your shedding dog is DRAMATIC. By brushing her regularly with it and removing the shedding hair, she won't be randomly getting hair all around the place as much.

Buy the "Shed Ender Pro" or the "Furminator". These type of brushes work great because they grab the undercoat, which is the hair that ends up on your furniture. During this time of year you may only have to do it twice a week but once it gets hot you'll have to do it every day. My dogs coat is so shiny from using it and it grabs a TON of hair.

A high quality diet and daily brushing should cut down on shedding. What food are you feeding her now? I recommend high quality brands such as Candie, Wellness, In nova, Solid Gold, Origin, Life's Abundance, Flint River Ranch, Timber wolf Organics, California Natural, In nova EV, etc. Try to stay away from brands you can find at grocery stores/Wall-Mart/etc. This includes, but isn't limited to, Aims, Eugenia, Kibbles n Bits, Pedigree, Science Diet, Purina, Baneful, etc. They contain tons of fillers and by-products.
Some people see a drastic change in their dog's coats once they switch them to a high quality diet. Brushing her daily will also cut down on the amount of fur you'll find floating around your house.
If she's a long hair breed, you can try keeping her hair clipped short.

Dogs shed.
A good diet and consistant, weekly grooming will decrease but not eliminate the shedding.

The simple answer is no. If she has long hair, the only thing you can do is cut it shorter, and that wont prevent shedding, but lower the visibility of the hair. Pets=Fur.

Get a furminator and strip the dead hair out of her coat at least once a week. It won't stop her from shedding, but it will get all of the dead hair out of her coat and reduce the amount of hair she leaves on your furniture, rug, clothes, etc.

Dogs shed - not much you can do about it. Brushing the dog regularly will at least prevent so much fur from getting on your furniture.
