Absolutely not.

Which is why I say over and over that the lack of evidence COMPELS me to be an atheist.

Some persistent people would like to say so, and opt for the non-belief for th ereasons you have stated, however friend, you should join a religion that suits 'you'. All psychological capabilities are further advanced more than any other method can provide when there is belief in faith and devotion of a higher power.

Hence power and not to imply something, but it is almost like having hydro and never flipping on the ligh switch, or turning on the stove.
Higher power is always there but you need to access it and then you can do many wonderous things dude.

Mankind is completely contaminated by sin and has no innate ability to surrender His own will to that of another. The Bible says that no one comes to the father unless they are drawn by the Holy Spirit.

I believe, for reasons I do not fully understand, that God has soveriegnly chosen those humans who will be saved. I believe He chose them before the creation of the universe. If you are christian, think about your own experience of conversion. How many times did you hear the gospel before your eyes were opened and you came to the realization that Jesus Christ really is the savior of the world, the Almighty God?

The Biblical doctrine of election and predestination is a topic of heated argument and I do not fully understand it nor can I fully explain it. However, I do believe it is taught in Romans chapter 9.

Of course. However, some cultures are so close knitted, they know nothing other than what they have been taught. For instance, lets take a small village in South America. They may be remote from many people, and their only source of information is what is passed down through generations and in their own community. This would limit the choices they make, and what they know of the outside world and spirituality. They may question their own choices, but will rarely stray from them.

I believe God makes a decision to open a heart, mind and soul so the person can finally believe the formerly unbelievable, accept the formerly unacceptable, understand the formerly incomprehensible, and worship the formerly rejected One.

Once we are made able by God and He draws us in, we choose to believe and follow Him because we finally understand the magnitude of our sins against Him and our great need for salvation.

Then we love Him for His mercy towards us through the sacrifice of His Son, Jesus Christ.

And that's Good News!

Good question!

Take care,

Gayle

Yes...God has given every man the ability to comprehend that He IS. Four men in four corners of the world may call Him by a different name and have different 'rules' but they still can fathom that He exists.

To deny Him is a choice.

You can not choose whether or not you believe in a god in much the same way you do not choose to be right handed.

hmmm

I would say believing overall is not in anyway a decision, yet there are some people capable of convincing themselves fictional events happened to the point where they can pass a lie detector.

I think generally no one decides to believe or not to believe, but I am not ruling out the possibility in some rare cases.

no we cant choose whether or not to worship or believe, the government schools decide what is an acceptable religious behavior for our children to be exposed to (crosses and moments of silence are wrong, but we will close down the gym for a Muslim Girl Volleyball game or close a pool to the public for a Muslim girls swim team)

Don't forget moving school breaks for Muslim prayer but God forbid giving a child excused absence for Hanukkah.

Do you think people can choose to believe or not to believe in God? Thoughts are possiblities and your actions determine which ones you choose so if you can think it, someone can and will do it.

Yes you can choose whether or not to believe in God, you are free. By coencidence, there are similar structures of humans and animals, most have eyes, ears, noses;most need to eat and drink to survive. By coencidence, the universe, where the sun in at the center of the galaxy, and the earth rotates around it systematically, 365 days per year, and 24hrs on itself. By coencidence, Humans are on earth where we can breath and have food and water that are needed for our bodies to survive. It is up to you to decide whether everything around us, just happened scientifically by coencidence, or if there is an architect behind all of this. For me, there is too much order and structure in humans, animals and the universe for me to belive it just happened coincedently. I believe there is a designer and architect behing all this. I call him God.
